FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh and Sierra Leone Chief Minister Jacob Jusu Saffa signed the MoU in Hanoi on March 16 2022.

On March 16, FPT Corporation (FPT) and Sierra Leone inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate digital transformation and develop digital talent pool for the country. For the first time, Vietnam’s leading tech firm has signed an MOU on digital transformation at a national level with a foreign country.

The signing ceremony took place on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the official visit of Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio to Vietnam.
By virtue of the MoU, FPT will collaborate with world’s leading consulting firms to assist the West African country in socio-economic development and digital transformation strategies. In addition, FPT will also support the Government of Sierra Leone in building digital government, digital economy and digital society, with a vision towards a digital nation. Regarding workforce education, FPT will offer high-quality undergraduate programmes to gifted technology students selected and financed by Sierra Leone.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, FPT Chairman Truong Gia Binh expressed confidence in the collaboration future between Vietnam and Sierra Leone, since the two countries share a good diplomatic relation and many similarities in natural conditions as well as wartime endurance.

“After ‘Doi Moi’ (Reforms), Vietnam has transformed itself and sets sights on becoming a sustainable digital nation. We are keeping up with new technologies and can cooperate with Sierra Leone in many aspects”, said Dr. Binh. He emphasized that Vietnam can support the Republic of Sierra Leone in high-quality education and training, and removing hurdles in agriculture with technology application. “This is a great collaboration opportunity for Vietnamese technology and agriculture companies as well”, he noted.

As a pioneering technology corporation, FPT has been implementing digital transformation projects for the Government, leading organizations and businesses worldwide. In Vietnam, FPT is supporting 40 cities and provinces in comprehensive socio-economic development by consulting on socio-economic development planning, digital transformation strategies, and changing digital transformation awareness on a large scale.
