At the meeting, FPT Software’s COO introduced FPT’s nine subsidiaries and its three main areas including Technology, Telecommunications and Education. FPT focuses on developing talents and invests in the research and development of new technologies. With the strengths in technology and human resources, Hoa proposed more collaboration opportunities between ITU and FPT with the aim to promote digital community development based on technological innovation.

ITU Secretary-General expressed interest in FPT’s global presence with 57 offices and 22 development centers in 26 countries and territories. Zhao invited FPT to become an ITU member to contribute to ITU’s projects and expand connection to partners and clients in 193 member countries of ITU. This also aligns with one of ITU’s priorities to promote the participation of ICT enterprises in building standards, proposing recommendations on telecommunications policy development and implementing new technologies and services.

Zhao’s visit to FPT is part of his business trip to Vietnam to attend the ITU Digital World 2021. Co-hosted by the government of Vietnam, ITU Digital World 2021 is an annual global tech event for governments, industries and tech firms to exchange knowledge and take a fresh look at how to build the digital world post-COVID-19 together. This year, the event takes place virtually, comprising ministerial roundtables, workshops and an online exhibition, which will still be available for a month afterward.
