HANOI/TOKYO, April 5th, 2019 – FPT Corporation (FPT) and Daiwa Institute of Research Ltd. (DIR) today announced that they have successfully completed the RPA pilot project for SSI Securities Corporation (SSI), the largest brokerage firm in Vietnam.

The joint project is based on a Memorandum of Understanding on research and development of advanced technologies, signed by FPT and DIR in December 2017. The knowledge DIR has gained through Fintech consulting, the RPA implementation support within Daiwa Securities Group, and collaboration with FPT have enabled us to establish a capacity to provide high-quality services.

As a large trading firm in Vietnam, SSI puts a high priority on attending to customers’ needs, which requires intensive human efforts. In 2018, SSI and DIR sat down to discuss the best approach to reduce human efforts to a minimum while maintaining a higher level of business control and least disrupting the company’s business processes. This is where FPT’s RPA solutions come into play. As an emerging form of business process automation technology, RPA helps an organization to automate the manual jobs while maintaining the original business processes. This enables the organization to avoid intensive training as well as any hidden risks for any processes changes.

The pilot project uses Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to streamline back office tasks for SSI over a 3-month period, from December 2018 to February 2019. Prior to the start of the project, questionnaires were sent to SSI’s employees with the feedback of a number of operations looking for automation. After detail analysis, five operations where the capabilities of RPA could be demonstrated comprehensively were chosen. Following the RPA development and efficiency measurement, the project team and SSI’s users were excited about the successful results of the project.

As a pioneer in digital transformation, FPT has delivered world-class services in Smart factory, Digital platforms, RPA, AI, IoT, Enterprise Mobility, and more. The company has served over 600 customers worldwide, a hundred of which are Fortune 500 companies operating in various sectors from Aerospace & Aviation, Automotive, Banking and Finance to Communications. DIR, a think tank of Daiwa Securities Group, is also active in the research and development of advanced technologies and has engaged in a number of activities including the study of Blockchain applications /distributed ledger technology in securities post-trade operations (*1), introduction of AI speech recognition, (*2) and development of regional AI index (*3).

FPT and DIR have cooperated for more than a decade. In December 2016, the two companies collaborated on cloud utilization support services for IoT businesses. One year later, they worked together to research and develop frontier technology solutions in four areas: AI-powered language services, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Self-driving Technologies, and Blockchains. Following this pilot project, both sides pledge to continuously strengthen collaboration in research and development of advanced technologies to provide high value-added services.
