More than 1000 new
staff recruited in the past 7 months |
|
In 2010, FPT Software set itself the goal of recruiting 1000
staff. In July, the Company was very proud to announce that
this goal had been achieved, and that the exact number of
new staff recruited so far this year is 1031. It also means
that FPT Software is on track to achieve its larger goal,
namely to recruit more than 4000 Software Engineers in the
three years between 2010 and 2012. |

Corporation cooperates with Neusoft Co. |
|
From August 4 to
7, 2010, FPT Corporation leaders visited the offices and
worked with the leaders of Neusoft Co. (China). This
coincided with a visit by Neusoft to the FPT Software Ho Chi
Minh City office on August 6. Neusoft Group’s CEO said that
Vietnam is a great potential market in the field of public
health services and IT. Accordingly, FPT and
Neusoft will research and develop the community health
sector in Vietnam. Neusoft Group is the largest IT
outsourcing company in China with over 16,000 employees,
providing software and IT services as well as medical
technology pharmaceuticals. Its headquarter is located in
Son Duong province. |

“PM
– A journey” |
|
FPT Software PM Symbol
A series of programs to honor all the FPT Software Project
Managers (PMs) who have contributed to the Company’s
projects is being organized. The first “PM – A journey” will
take place in Hanoi on September 10, 2010 with the
participation of about 200 PMs. As part of the program, PMs
will receive awards recognizing their contributions over
previous years, and PM Ranking results will be announced.
This is also an opportunity for all FPT Software’s software
engineering experts to share their views about the Company’s
development with their leaders, as well as discover how they
can contribute to it. In addition, the participants in “PM –
A journey” will also enjoy special performances from famous
singers from both FPT Software and Vietnam. |

FPT
licensed to test pre-4G technology |
|
The Ministry of Information and
Communications (MoIC) has allowed FPT Telecom to test LTE
technology in Hanoi and HCM City within one year.
In theory, LTE can reach download speeds of up to 100Mb/s
and upload speeds up to 50Mb/s. Its popular name is 4G, or
fourth generation. However, telecom experts believe that
this is really just pre-4G technology. The LTE technology
that reaches speeds of up to 1Gbit/s being the real 4G
technology. This 4G technology will not come out until late
2010 or 2011. |

|
Science
and technology sector opens up to foreign investment |
The Science and Technology Ministry’s Technology Assessment
and Inspection Department issued a new decree intended to
encourage international investment in science-and-technology
(S&T) research. The decree will replace all of Vietnam’s
prevailing laws governing international investment and
co-operation in science and technology. It will become
effective on September 1, 2010.
One of its major objectives is to persuade international
investors to establish S&T research institutes in Vietnam,
said the department’s director Do Hoai Nam.
Investment from organizations and individuals would be
sought for basic research in the natural sciences, and
applied research in information technology, biotechnology,
automation and electronic mechanics, nuclear and alternative
energies, space science, mechanics, waste treatment
technology, high-technology personnel training and
development, etc.

Cloud-computing
development in Vietnam |
|
While
cloud-computing usage is now popular in developed-IT
countries, it has been just established in Vietnam. IT
experts judge that with the market penetration and operation
extension of services suppliers in Vietnam, cloud-computing
has many opportunities to develop.
Recently, more and more enterprises in Vietnam provide
cloud-computing services. Some of them are enhancing
cooperation with foreign investors to provide
cloud-computing services to the market by the end of this
year.
In May 2010, FPT Corporation signed a Memorandum of
Understanding with Trend Micro on Cloud Computing Services.
Accordingly, FPT Software held a contest named 5C (Cloud
Computing Coding Contest for CUDERS or FPT Software
developers) presenting FPT's attention and investment in
this service. |

First Vietnamese
anti-virus software obtains international certificate |
|
The software verification organization Virus Bulletin has
granted its VB100 certificate to Vietnam’s BKAV anti-virus
software.Virus Bulletin manager John Hawes highly praised
the Vietnamese software’s stability.
To attain this certificate, the tested software must
discover 100 percent of sample viruses, which are found
worldwide and defined as dangerous by experts.
BKAV, Vietnam’s top network security organization, sent its
BKAV Home 2009 edition to Virus Bulletin for testing twice
earlier this year but failed to get the certificate.
However, the BKAV 2010 version, which uses cloud-computing
technology and has up to 6.4 million sample viruses, passed
the Virus Bulletin’s test.

August 13, 2010 is
the fifth anniversary of FPT Software Danang’s founding |

5 years –
The first FSOFTers (FPT Software people) moved from Hanoi to
Danang with a hope of developing the software industry in
Central Vietnam.
5 years –FPT
Software Danang has developed from just 40 people at the
time of establishment, to about 400 now. While the revenue
in 2005 was zero, it now reaches millions of US dollars.
5 years
–‘Freshers’ from the early days are now senior project
managers leading projects worth millions of US dollars and
more than 100 developers who are working hard night and day.
5 years –
FPT Software Danang has convinced the market and proved that
it can produce software and lead on large projects.

FPT’s
Ceramic Road now under construction |
|
According to the
FPT Project Team, by August 11, 2010 some 27 meters of FPT’s
Ceramic Road had been constructed. Hanoi’s Ceramic Road is
an artistic mural being constructed along the length of the
Red River Dyke in time for the City’s 1000th Anniversary
celebrations in October.
The project team are now preparing to burn the ceramics, a
stage which depends very much on the weather. The ceramics
need sunny weather to dry them out and make sure they
achieve the best color.
The section of the ceramic road sponsored by FPT Corporation
is more than 60 meters in length, has a total area of 139
square meters, and is designed by FPT Artists.

CEO attends Vietabroader Business Conference |
|
On August 8,
2010, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nam, CEO of FPT Corporation, attended
The Vietabroader Business Conference at the Vietnam National
Convention Center.
The meeting
included four main discussion sessions: Vietnamese Economy –
an overview and promises; Strategies of successful
enterprises; Raising your personal trademark in your
company; and Being your own Boss.
At the “Strategies of successful enterprises” session, Mr.
Nguyen Thanh Nam shared the vision and strategy of FPT
Corporation: “Starting from the real situation of FPT
Corporation, the combination of young human resources and
the policy of promoting advantages and restraining
disadvantages has brought FPT Corporation significant
success”.
The Vietabroader Business Conference is organized by the UK
Alumni Vietnam and Vietabroader – a non-profit organization
which is managed by Vietnamese Students from top US
universities.
