  MISSION IMPOSSIBLE COMPLETED

A party was held on 27th December to celebrate the success FPT software’s P1 group in completing the NextG project, FPT software’s largest to date. 449 P1 people were honored for their outstanding accomplishment in the successful completion of a 3000 man-months project after approximately one year and a half of hard work.

The project was performed for one of the biggest oil & gas corporations in Malaysia, by migrating more than one thousand applications from Lotus Notes to the Microsoft platform. The accomplishment was highly appreciated and is a significant achievement not only for P1 but also for the whole of FPT Software.

  FPT SOFTWARE’S REVENUE EXCEEDS 2007 PLAN

FPT Corporation commended and rewarded FPT Software on the 19th Dec 2007 for achieving and exceeding the planned revenue growth for 2007.  The achievement is evidence to the innovation and great contribution of all FPT Software staff and enhances the image of FPT Software among 15 companies in the FPT Corporation. 

  SURVEY ON FPT STAFF SATISFACTION 2007

Considering people as its core value and staff satisfaction is the most pivotal factor for FPT’s success, FPT Corporation  coordinated with AC Nielsen to carry out a survey on FPT staff satisfaction from the 19th Dec 2007 to the 2nd Jan 2008 to get staff opinion on the corporation’s policy, orientation and management.

 

The end result will be for new strategies and policies ensuring staff satisfaction and the Corporation’s productivity.

  ALL FPT SOFTWARE STAFF TO TAKE ISMS TEST

ISMS (Information Security Management System) online test is a bi-annual exam for checking staff understanding of, and abidance to information security guidelines. For the first time the test will be applicable to all FPT Software staff from manual laborers to programmers, and managers; Only ISMS team is exempt. The test will last one month, starting from late December 2007.

  THE FIRST PMP CERTIFICATE OF FPT SOFTWARE

On December 26th, FPT Software received its first prestigious certificate of PMP. FPT Software plans to obtain more PMP in the coming time with a comprehensive program of training within the company.

 

Project Management Professional (PMP) is a globally recognized certification in project management. Presently in Vietnam, there is only one company authorized to organize the PMP training and one center to administer the test.

  VIETNAM PRAISED FOR IP COMMITMENT

“The international community appreciates what Vietnam has done in regards to intellectual property (IP) protection” said Antonio Berenguer the Trade Counselor of the European Commission delegation during a training course in Hanoi on Dec 19-20.

 

The counselor said that Vietnam has shown deep care and commitment to IP security through early and strict application of IP law and raised public awareness of IP security.

 

Vietnam intends to further reduce copyright infringement with plans to increase fines for illegal software use, while encouraging software producers to offer fair pricing policies.

  3G TECHNOLOGY TO COME TO VIETNAM

Vietnam will see a boost in economic growth and jobs and will benefit greatly from the implementation of Third Generation (3G) technology next year, according to GSMA, a global association for the mobile phone technology.

 

3G technology enables users to access broadband internet through their mobile phones and will narrow the digital divide between those who have access to high-speed Internet and those who don’t.

 

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MTC) Deputy Minister Le Nam Thang said the Vietnamese government has created favorable conditions for telecom companies to apply 3G and hopes to test the readiness of telecom firms early next year.

  TECHNOLOGICAL COOPERATION WITH JAPAN INTENSIFIED

Japanese scientists, businesses and authorities stated their intention to boost the bilateral cooperation with Vietnam in sciences and technologies, and said that technology transfer should be made in parallel with investment to improve the quality of made-in-Vietnam products during the visit of the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology to Japan from Dec. 9-14.

 

The delegation had sessions with officials from Japan’s Foreign Ministry and from Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry. They also visited Japan’s largest economic and industrial hubs, research institutes and production establishments of hi-tech groups like Toshiba, Mitsui and Sharp.

  VIETNAMESE STUDENTS TO STUDY IN HIGH-TECH LABS

More than US $70 millions will be poured into 14 major universities in Vietnam through the World Bank to develop infrastructure facilities, build labs and research centers.

 

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi between the Director of the Management Board of the second higher education project and representatives of beneficiary universities on Dec 21.

The project will be implemented over four years from 2008.

IT WILL BE A HAPPY YEAR IN VIETNAM – SURVEY

It's going to be a happy new year in booming Vietnam, where consumers are confident about their job prospects, the economy and life in general, according to an Asia Pacific survey.

 

The MasterCard Worldwide Index of Consumer Confidence survey said that Vietnam, with its fast-growing economy and rising personal incomes registered with China as having the highest levels of consumer confidence for the first half of 2008.

 

 
300 WARM SCARVES

Every year, FPT software’s Youth Union conducts a Winter Volunteer Program. “300 warm scarves” is the name of this year’s appeal which hopes to make this winter warmer for our less-privileged and continues FPT software’s tradition and culture of helping underprivileged people. 

 

The Youth Union has been collecting blankets, warm clothes, books, toys, dried food and money for homeless elderly and children. The donations were delivered on January 5th, 2008 at Social Welfare Centre 4 in Ha Tay province.
