  FPT Malaysia cooperates with five strategic partners

A signing ceremony was held between FPT Malaysia and five partners, including Heitech Padu, Kompakar, Pernec, Sains, and Solsis at the Boulevard Hotel, Mid Valley, Kuala Lumpur on November 25.

The five partners are large companies  in Malaysia and have been identified by FPT Malaysia as strategic partners next year.

The Vietnamese ambassador to Malaysia, the Malaysian Minister of International Trade & Industry attended as the VIP guests of the ceremony.

 FPT Software ANNOUNCES chANGE TO organization

Aiming to improve services to meet the demands of its global customers, FPT Software will change its personnel and organizational structure with the establishment of four new subsidiary companies, 100% owned by FPT Software, namely:

  • FPT Software Engineering Ltd.

  • FPT Software Worldwide Ltd.

  • FPT Software R&D Ltd.

  • FPT Software Direct Marketing Solutions Ltd.

All four companies will be headquartered in Hanoi. The change is effective from 1st January 2010.

 FPT USA launches IT Panel Discussion at “Meet Vietnam” in the USA

An IT Panel Discussion named "Beyond the Usual Suspects: Vietnam's Emergence as Asia's next Software Powerhouse" hosted by Agilis Solutions, FPT, VINASA (Vietnam Software Association) and the SD Forum took place in San Franciso, on November 16th.

 

The discussion was a special opportunity for Vietnamese software companies to establish relationships with many new companies in the USA, and for U.S companies to learn more about Vietnam’s software industry.

 

The “Meet Vietnam” program was held in San Francisco, California, from November 15-16 as part of activities to promote Vietnam’s external economic activities and educational cooperation in the States.

  FPT embedded workshop successfully ends

The first embedded workshop of FPT organized in Tokyo, Japan on November 18th 2009 drew 36 invited guests coming from 20 famous companies in Japan such as Panasonic, Sharp, Canon, Toshiba, NTT, Hitachi, Kyocera, etc.

An impressive part of the workshop was the presentation about Android, which showed FPT’s ability of approaching, researching, and developing the newest technologies.

In the recent years, FPT has researched and gotten the first achievements with 5 Labs of image process technology and multimedia, new technologies and applications for mobile phone, VLSI, CAD/CAM, and universal technologies and applications.

  FPT receives Dr. Chris horn

On November 18, FPT leaders welcomed the Irish ICT enterprise delegation, led by the Irish Ambassador to Vietnam, Ms. Maeve Collins, and Doctor Chris Horn, who is influential in both Ireland’s and the global ICT industry.

The delegation and FPT leaders discussed the potential and opportunity for cooperation.

Dr. Chris Horn is the co-founder and Director of IONA Technologies Company, headquartered in Dublin, Ireland. He led the company to fifth among IPO companies in the history of Nasdaq in 1997, and the Company subsequently became one of the leading global software companies, by revenue.

Vietnam continuously among top ten software outsourcing countries

Vietnam ranks ninth among the top 10 nations for outsourcing in the world, according to a recent survey by the Tholons - Global Services Group.

Ho Chi Minh City continues to be selected by Tholons - Global Services as one of the world’s six leading cities in application development and management as well as game and cartoon development.

Tholons is a leading full-service Strategic Advisory firm for Global Outsourcing and Investments, providing location analysis and strategic growth & expansion services for outsourcing providers and buyers.

  Hanoi, HCM City to top world’s cities in economic growth

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) are projected to come first and second in the top 30 fastest growing cities with an annual average GDP growth rate of 7% over the period 2008-2025, according to research conducted by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC).

The research, published in the UK’s Economic Outlook magazine in an article named “Which are the largest city economies in the world and how this might change by 2025”, provided estimates for the growth of GDP in the world’s major city economies from 2008 to 2025. It covered 151 cities around the world, including Vietnam’s two biggest cities.

  Five bills adopted at NA session

National Assembly deputies on November 23rd approved five bills covering the elderly, medical treatment, telecommunications, radio frequencies and militia.

Under the newly-adopted Elderly Law, Vietnamese citizens who are 60 years old and over are regarded as the elderly. Meanwhile, the new Law on Medical Treatment creates favorable conditions for medical workers to increase their professional skills and meet the public’s increasing demand for medical check-ups and treatment. The Telecommunications Law is applied to organisations and individuals who are engaged in telecom services. The Law on Radio Frequencies makes clear the specific duties and rights of the Ministry of Information and Communications, which is assigned to manage radio frequencies in Vietnam. Finally, the Law on Militia stipulates that both men (aged between18-45) and women (between 18-40) are obliged to join the militia during peacetime.

  French, Vietnamese businesses sign deals worth US$9.5 billion

Eighteen investment and cooperative agreements, worth US$9.5 billion, were signed by Vietnamese and French businesses at the Vietnamese-French business leaders' forum in Hanoi on November 13th.

 

The forum was held on the occasion of French Prime Minister Francois Fillon’s visit to Vietnam.

 

France tops the list of leading European countries investing in Vietnam and is Vietnam’s third biggest European trade partner, with two-way trade reaching US$1.8 billion last year. France now has about 250 companies operating in Vietnam.

HIGHLIGHTED NUMBER

US$12.6 million

is the total value of the ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) contract which FPT Information Systems signed with Vietnam National Petroleum Corporation (Petrolimex) on November 13th. This is the biggest ever contract awarded in Vietnam’s ERP field.

SOCIAL CORNER

  FPT Software enters eventful sport season

At the end of November, FPT Software’s Autumn – Winter Football Cup 2009 is  launched with 15 teams participating. The teams were separated into 3 groups and are expected to bring their spectators excited matches.

Meanwhile, all staff members can register to take part in the contests of badminton, table tennis, and shuttlecock kicking. The various sports are expected to draw large crowds of FPT Software spectators, heating up the atmosphere during the forthcoming cold winter.

 Vietnam’s National History Museum to be a showplace

The final design (by Nikken Sekkei Ltd.) for the National History Museum was chosen by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Toursism from among 18 designs offered for public comments.

The museum project will be a complex of buildings, housing the current Vietnam History Museum and the Vietnam Revolution Museum in Hanoi.

This will be the largest museum in Vietnam, exhibiting items about Vietnam’s history from ancient times to the present day. It will become a modern cultural landmark, and Vietnam’s largest socio-historical museum.
