FPT Software & FPT Corporation report business results for 2009
|
|
After a difficult year with the effect of the
global crisis, FPT Software has still maintained its revenue
in line with the figure for 2008, a total of US$42.1
million, an increase of 0.1% compared with 2008. However,
profit decreased by 11% compared with 2008.
In 2009, FPT Software’s biggest market,
Japan, decreased by 6%. However, the American market showed
an impressive growth rate of 33% as well as positive signals
for the coming year, with a series of projects having just
been signed. The Asia Pacific market also expressed its
capacity for further business expansion.
The year witnessed many big changes in the
organization of FPT Software such as the appointment of new
CEO (Ms. Bui Thi Hong Lien was appointed to CEO of FPT
Software from January 1st 2009 replacing Mr. Nguyen Thanh
Nam, who becomes CEO of FPT Corporation); the decision of
restructuring FPT Software Hanoi
branch into 4 subsidiary companies (it became effective from
January 1st 2010); FPT
Japan also saw the appointment of its new CEO, the first
non-Vietnamese CEO of FPT.
It is expected that FPT Software will
achieve revenue of US$55 million in 2010, an increase of 30%
compared with the figure for 2009.
The strategy for the next three years was
also mapped out. FPT Software will invest in development to
become one of the leading Software Companies in the world
with revenue of US$100 million and above. The Company is
oriented to become the provider of major services/solutions
for giant customers, and sign long term contracts of about 2
– 3 years and large scale contracts of about 1000 person
hours per month and above. Additionally, becoming the
provider of technical solutions for customers is also one of
FPT Software’s major strategies.
FPT Corporation also announced its
business results. The Corporation’s revenue in 2009 was
about VND 18,751 billion (more than US$ 1 billion), an
increase of 11.6% compared with 2008, and 9.8% above
projections. |

10 events of FPT Software 2009

During the first week of January 2010, FPT Software staff
members worldwide were asked to nominate and vote for the
Company’s most significant events, from throughout 2009.
Among the 21 most significant events nominated, the Top 10
events can finally be revealed:
Number 1: The appearance of FPT Software’s first ever
subsidiary companies (SCs). After the initial establishment
of FPT Software Solutions Company (FPTSS), FPT Software
Hanoi branch was restructured into four SCs, namely FPT Software Direct
Marketing Solutions (FDM), FPT Software Research &
Development (FRD), FPT Software Engineering (FSE), and FPT
Software Worldwide (FSW). This event drew most of the total
votes.
Number 2: The appointment of the first foreigner to
CEO of an FPT Software branch. Mr. Ogawa Takeo formally
became CEO of FPT Japan from January 1st 2010.

trade brand
|
|
On January 23rd 2010, FPT Software was honored
to be “The prestigious foreign trade brand 2009” in the
prize awarding ceremony at Hanoi’s Voice of Vietnam
Building. Additionally, FPT Software CEO was presented the
award of “The typical foreign trade activist 2009”.
The ceremony was broadcast live on Vietnam
Television and popularized on public information media.
The award was co-organized by the national
committee for international economic cooperation, the Voice
of Vietnam, Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, and
Vietnam Civilization magazine for the first time. |

Vietnam mobilizes US$ 1 billion from bond sale
|
Vietnam has raised US$1 billion from its
global bond sale on the Singapore Stock Exchange, according
to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
The government bonds, which yield 6.95% per year, will
mature on January 29, 2020.
This is the third bond sale of Vietnam after two successful
times of issuing bonds overseas in 2005 and 2007.
The amount of money from bond sale this
time is planned to be used partly for refunding state budget
and another part will be given to the Ministry of Planning &
Investment combined with the Ministry of Finance to invest
in suitable and effective projects.

Vietnam
ranks second in Southeast Asia for national domain names |
The Vietnam Internet Centre (VNNIC) on January 13 announced
it had reached its 100,000th .vn national domain name -
ranking only second to Singapore in Southeast Asia for the
number of national domain names.
After the Government issued a decree on Internet management,
VNNIC asked the Ministry of Information and Communications
to issue policies to better manage Vietnam’s Internet
resources. This resulted in a change from the ask-give
mechanism to registration based on the principle of
equality. This is the major reason for the rapid growth of .vn
domain names in recent years, which has averaged 17% per
year.

Vietnam, Philippines cooperate in stock market |
A cooperation agreement was signed by the Ho
Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) and the Philippine Stock
Exchange (PSE) in Ho Chi Minh City on January 15.
The agreement aims to strengthen and
promote cooperation between the two exchanges and marks a
new direction for the Vietnam securities market as well as
for HOSE on the way towards international integration.
According to the agreement, the two sides will share
information, train human resources, exchange experiences in
the management of the securities market, carry out joint
research projects and jointly organize symposiums.

Vietnam To Spend $1.52 Billion On Building Road Along Coastline |
Vietnam plans to spend VND28.13 trillion
(US$1.52 billion) on building a 3,041-kilometer long road
along the country's coastline, the government said in a
statement on January 21.
The road is being built with an aim to
effectively use the country's resources, boost socioeconomic
development and enhance national defense, it said. The
government will spend VND16 trillion on the construction of
the road from now to 2020, and the rest after that, it said.
Vietnam has a coastline of 3,260 kilometers.

FPT Software organizes huge year-end ceremony in Ha Long bay |
|
January 16 and 17 were truly memorable days for all FPT
Software Hanoi branch staff members. They took part
enthusiastically in a series of activities as part of the
massive year-end summing up ceremony in Tuan Chau island, Ha
Long Bay.

About 1,200 FPT Software staff members were waving hands for
being taken a commemorative photograph
More than 1,200 people had an opportunity to join together
in a game show in which questions were asked about the
Company’s business results and the correct answers were
rewarded. FPT Software CEO reported the Company’s
performance in 2009 in the innovative form of a cartoon
film, which illustrated FPT Software’s activities across the
whole year. The four new subsidiary companies of FPT
Software Hanoi branch presented four exciting performances
including comedies, musical plays, and a drum dance. In
addition, the ceremony honored the best teams and
individuals from 2009.
The Gala dinner brought the Ha Long ceremony to a fitting
close. Hundreds of staff gathered together outdoors to enjoy
the delicious buffet, watch dance performances, and play fun
games. |

Heavily guarded FIFA World Cup arrives in Vietnam
|
The most famous football cup in the world -
FIFA World Cup - arrived at HCM City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport
on January 18 on a specialized aircraft with the strictest
security.

The cup was introduced at a press
conference at the Caravelle Hotel on the same day and stayed
in HCM City for three days. On that occasion, Vietnamese
fans had a chance to take photos with the cup on January 20
when it was displayed at the Military Zone 7 Sports House in
the City’s Phu Nhuan district.
This is the second time the FIFA World Cup
has been in Vietnam. The first was in 2002, when it traveled
to both Hanoi and HCM City.
