FPT Software sets initial foot on Irish
market |
|
FPT Software has recently signed a contract with its first
Irish customer. According to the contract, FPT Software will
open an offshore software development center (OSDC) to
develop applications based on the Microsoft System Center
platform, from now until the end of 2010. The workload from
this client
is estimated to continue to increase in early June,
opening new opportunities for FPT Software to establish
itself in the Irish market. |

FPT logo on display at Singapore

FPT’s logo will be displayed at Singapore’s Changi Airport
for at least the next year from now. This is the result of a
project by FPT Asia Pacific (FAP), in collaboration with
Microsoft Singapore, to enhance the flight schedule display
system in all first-class and business-class departure
lounges in Changi’s Terminal 2. FPT’s logo consists of 3
primary colors (blue, orange, and green) which communicate
the Company’s stability, enthusiasm, and excellence. |

to sign US$10 million contract |
|
A cooperation agreement will be signed between FPT and Trend
Micro Inc. (USA)Accordingly, FPT will become a supplier of
Cloud Computing for Trend Micro in Vietnam.
Trend Micro is a global leader of expertise in endpoint,
messaging and Web security. |

FPT Software organizes Job Fair Day |
|
Under the theme “Together with FPT Software to conquer the
world”, the Job Fair Day was organized on May 8 by FPT
Software in conjunction with Hanoi University of Technology.
The fair aimed to introduce career opportunities at FPT
Software, and seek out fresh talent to meet the recruitment
demands of the Company in 2010.
The fair drew hundreds of students from various IT
universities. As part of the event, FPT Software had
organized a lot of activities such as careers consultants,
guiding students to seek job opportunities at FPT Software,
introduction of key projects and demos modeling typical
technology. In addition, the culture of the Company and its
many customers (Japan for example) was on display and drew
the students’ attention. |

Vietnam
invited to G20 meeting
|
Canada has invited Vietnam, as Chairman of ASEAN, to the G20
Summit in Toronto this June. On April 27, Mr. Leonard
Edwards, Canadian Deputy Foreign Minister met with Deputy
Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem and
Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh in Hanoi to exchange
information about the G20 Summit, which is scheduled on June
26-27. The two sides will discuss further the relationship
between ASEAN and Canada and some issues of shared concern.

Microsoft to help develop nation's technology sector
|
|
Microsoft Vietnam and the Ministry of Information and
Communication (MIC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
on April 20 in Hanoi.
According to the MoU, the two sides agreed to focus on
developing Vietnam's ICT human resources up to world-class
standards; improving Vietnam's access to world-class
technologies and productivity tools; cultivating a thriving
local ICT industry that attracts the interest of foreign
investors; stimulating innovation; and enhancing Vietnam's
capacity to compete globally.

Vietnam Targets 7% GDP Growth in 2010 H2
|
|
Vietnam needs to target 7% economic growth in the second
half of 2010 to meet its full-year expansion goal of 6.5%,
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said at a ministerial meeting
on May 5. Vietnam’s economy has been “relatively stable” so
far this year and the Government will continue to prioritize
the maintenance of stability as well as prevent inflation
from accelerating to a very high level, according to the
statement.

Robocon 2010 finals kick off |
|
The final round of the 9th Vietnam Robot Contest (Robocon
2010) took place at the Buon Me Thuot City Sports Centre in
the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak during May 10-16.
Accordingly, the winner will have to build one pyramid
within three minutes. The 34 best teams selected from the
251 teams representing 56 universities and colleges will
compete in the 1/13, 1/16 and 1/8 rounds to choose the
winner.
The champion will represent Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific
Robot Contest in Cairo, Egypt in September 2010.

Software ready for FPT’s recreational activities |
|
During May 2010, FPT Software’s Hanoi, Danang and Ho Chi
Minh City branches are launching a series of musical
activities.
In Hanoi, FPT Software is going to participate in the FPT
musical festival on May 27. This is an annual event, aiming
to boost exchanges between all of FPT’s member companies.
Separately, FPT Software Danang and Ho Chi Minh City are
preparing for dance activities in May. These entertaining
events aim to give FPT Software’s staff members’
opportunities to relax after days of hard work. |

|
FPT Software’s Youth Union volunteered help at Thien Giao
Center for disabled children in Hai Phong on 16 May. The
centre helps children affected by Agent Orange. Of the 26
child victims of Agent Orange at the Center, two thirds of
them suffer with intellectual disabilities.
