An OSDC to be established |
|
FPT Software Direct Marketing (FDM) Company recently
attended a quarterly meeting with Nissen/Unisys customers to
review the results of their cooperation and also make plans
for the next quarter. At the meeting, the two companies
decided to collaborate on founding an offshore software
development center in FDM, specializing in developing
Nissen’s systems. They are now working to make proposals
with a reasonable price and schedule for the implementation.
It is estimated that the OSDC will start its operation from
July 2010. |

Chinese IT outsourcing company visits FPT Software |
|
Neusoft Group representatives visited FPT Software’s HCM
City Branch and had a meeting with FPT leaders on June 8th.
Chairman and CEO of Neusoft Group Mr. Liu Jiren said Vietnam
is a great potential market in the fields of public health
services and IT technology. Therefore, many opportunities
are available for FPT and Neusoft to cooperate in
researching and developing the community health sector in
Vietnam in the future.
Neusoft is the largest IT outsourcing company in China with
over 16,000 employees. Their main business is providing
software and IT services as well as medical technology. |

FPT
signs record IT service contract |
|
FPT Information Systems Company (FPT FIS) has recently won a
service bid worth nearly VND 200 billion (more than US$10
million) with a financial institution. The value of this
package has broken every record for information technology
service contracts ever, for both FPT as well as for Vietnam.
The bid, which is expected to deploy within three years, is
to provide maintenance services for such items as server
systems, network systems, security systems and specialized
equipment. |

Cloud
Computing roused |
|
Many FPT Software staff attended a talk about Cloud
Computing in FPT Building on June 3rd. The speaker was Mr.
Dennis Stevenson, SaaS manager at MediServe - a customer of
FPT Software. During the talk, Mr. Stevenson introduced
Cloud Computing and discussed some aspects of the technology
with those attending.
Also in an effort to bring Cloud Computing to more people in
FPT Software, the “Cloud Club” (the club of Cloud Computing
lovers in FPT Japan) kicked off a contest named “5C” (The
cloud computing coding contest for coders). The participants
compete in developing small Cloud Computing applications in
a short time and with light effort. The contest has already
attracted many coders. |

WEF
on East Asia concludes successfully
|
The 2010 World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia opened on
June 6, chaired by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, and
successfully wrapped up in Ho Chi Minh City on June 7. The
event attracted nearly 500 government and business leaders,
representatives from international organizations and leading
scholars.
Themed “Asia’s Rising Role in Global Development”, the 2010
WEF on East Asia focused on discussing Asia’s rising role,
regional integration process, Asia’s responses to global
risks and challenges, regional financial issues, food
security and climate change.

Asia-Oceania Computing Industry Organization meet in Vietnam
|
|
The plenary meeting of the Asia-Oceania Computing Industry
Organization (ASOCIO) took place in Vietnam from June 17-20.
Around 60 high-ranking officials of IT associations and
groups from 21 member economies of ASOCIO attended the
meeting. They were greeted by Government officials and the
Ministry of Information and Communications and attended a
workshop to share their experiences in developing the IT
industry with Vietnam.
Truong Gia Binh, Vietnam Software Association Chair, ASOCIO
Vice-Chair, and FPT Chairman, observed that Vietnam would
bring many initiatives to this meeting, including ideas to
develop a website on ASOCIO IT human resources and establish
standards for ASOCIO IT human resources, among many others.

Vietnam’s robot on display at international automation
exhibition
|
|
Vietnam’s TOPIO Dio robot, the first humanoid waiter robot,
was displayed at Automatica 2010, the world largest
automation exhibition in Munich, Germany from June 8-11.
The robot is a friendly waiter and bartender for restaurants
and hotels, built by TOSY Robotics Company.
Automatica 2010 included more than 700 stalls representing
big corporations from 42 countries.

Viet Nam welcomes 50% increase in tourists |
|
Viet Nam welcomed nearly 440,000 foreign arrivals in May, an
increase of more than 50% compared with the same period last
year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Experts said the increase could be attributed to efforts by
the national tourism sector to organize various programs and
take full advantage of large cultural events, including the
35th anniversary of the Liberation of South Viet Nam and the
national reunification, the 120th birthday of President Ho
Chi Minh and the Sen (Lotus) Village Festival.

|
FPT Software sponsored a charitable concert, aiming to
contribute to the Asian Anti-blind Fund, according to the
invitation of Mitsubishi Corporation. FPT Software was the
silver sponsor, next to many big names such as Panasonic
Vietnam, Nikko Hanoi, Mitsubishi, Sumitomo, etc.
The concert took place on May 6th, 2010 at Sofitel Metropole
Hanoi Hotel. |

Hue Cultural Festival |
|
Hue Festival 2010 kicked off in the central city of Hue on
June 5 with a grand, colorful ceremony at Ngo Mon Square and
an artistic performance rich with traditional musical
genres.
The opening ceremony, which saw the attendance of Deputy
Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, included performances by
artists from France, Japan, China, the Republic of Korea,
Russia and Belgium.
Under the theme “Cultural Heritage with Integration and
Development”, the Hue Festival this year, from June 5-13,
will have a wide range of large-scale, impressive cultural
shows. According to the organizers, the festival will see
the participation of over 1,500 artists and performers from
48 foreign troupes representing 28 countries around the
world, together with 17 local troupes. |
