FPT RANKED FIRST IN TOP 500 PRIVATE COMPANIES |
|
FPT was ranked 11th among Vietnamese largest companies and topped the list of 500 Vietnamese Private Enterprises, revealed VNR500, a report jointly commissioned by Vietnam Net online newspaper and Vietnam Report, closely following the format of the Fortune 500 list of companies.
The organizing board wishes to provide a list of the most prestigious Vietnamese enterprises, with rankings based on international standards. The organizers also hope to build up a VNR500 Club, turning it into a club of leading companies in Vietnam, and helping to bring Vietnamese brand names to the world’s market. |

FPT SOFTWARE AIMS FOR PMP CERTIFICATES |

In order to enhance its project management capability, FPT Software has organized a training course on PMP for 20 people and will arrange PMP certification tests for the potential trainees. The Course will be conducted by specialists from PMC-Denmark.
Project Management Professional (PMP) is a globally recognized certification in project management. It is managed by the Project Management Institute and is based on the PMP Examination Specification published by PMI in 2005. |

FPT SECURITIES OPENS HO CHI MINH CITY BRANCH |

FPT Securities Joint Stock Company (FPTS) officially opened its Ho Chi Minh City branch on November 19th, 2007. The Branch provides securities brokerage, securities trading, securities investment consultancy, and securities custody. This is the first branch of the Hanoi-based securities broker.
The Company’s leaders believe that it will find numerous opportunities here; its technological advantages and professional workforce will enable FPTS to quickly become a reliable address for our clients and partners here.

JUSE VISITS FPT SOFTWARE |
| A Union of Japanese Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) delegation visited FPT Software on November 20th, 2007 on a software quality fact-finding trip. Every year JUSE visits one or two countries, and this year Vietnam was selected as a destination.
JUSE was established in 1946 with the objective of promoting systematic studies needed for the advancement of science and technology. Today, JUSE is widely known both within and outside the country as a "Center for Quality Control” in Japan. |

VIETNAM'S DEVELOPER POPULATION WILL GROW FAST |
|
According to research by IDG, the IT industry will generate 7.1 million jobs in the next 5 years, of which 4.6 million will be in the software industry. The growth rate for the developer population in Asia Pacific over the next three to five years is expected to be 15%, 8 to 10% in EMEA (Europe, the Middle East and Africa), but only 3 to 4% in North America. Vietnam was ranked 3rd among the fastest growing countries, after Azerbaijan and Russia.

VIETNAM HOPES TO BOLSTER TIES WITH JAPAN |

“The Government and people of Vietnam wish to bolster cooperative ties with Japan in all fields, particularly in economy, commerce and investment”, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung in a meeting with Mr. Motoyuki Oka, President of Sumitomo Corporation and President of Vietnam Economic Commission, during his visit to Vietnam in November 2007.
Mr. Oka informed PM Nguyen Tan Dung of the successes of the Vietnam – Japan joint initiative on Vietnamese investment environment reform. He also revealed Mitsubishi Corporation’s plan to build a plane parts plant in Thang Long industrial zone in Hanoi. The project will lay the groundwork for the corporation’s plan to construct a 80-90 seaters plane plant in Vietnam.
Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet also paid an official visit to Japan from November 25th - 29th. During his trip, the North–South Highway and Hoa Lac High Tech Park featured heavily on the agenda.

WB REPORT: VIETNAM'S ECONOMIC GROWTH REMAINS STRONG |

A World Bank (WB) report on East Asian and Pacific economies released on November 15th notes that Vietnam’s economic growth remains strong in 2007. According to the Report a GDP growth rate of 8.3% in the first nine months of 2007, has been fuelled by strong non-oil exports, investment and private consumption.
According to the WB, the US is the biggest market among Vietnam’s trade partners, making up nearly a fifth of the total, followed by EU, ASEAN and Japan.

US $50 MILLION TO DEVELOP HCM CITY'S INFRASTRUCTURE |
The World Bank (WB) and the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) signed a credit agreement worth US$50 million for the development of Ho Chi Minh City’s infrastructure until 2012 in Hanoi on November 16th. The WB-funded project will also help increase the Ho Chi Minh City Investment Fund for Urban Development (HIFU)’s capacity as well as encourage the private sector to get involved in infrastructure development.

Miss Universe 2008 will be organized in Vietnam, according to the Contract signed between Hoan Vu Joint Stock Company and the President of Miss Universe, Ms Paula Mary Shugart, on November 27th. In order to be eligible to host Miss Universe 2008, Vietnam had to demonstrate that it has many fine landscapes, good infrastructure and a 7,500-seat stage. After her visit to Vietnam in August, 2007, Ms Paula Mary Shugart was convinced that Vietnam is a suitable place for Miss Universe 2008. The Event will be held in Khanh Hoa province around June, 2008.
