FPT Securities Joint Stock Company (FPTS) has been awarded the title “The best securities house” in Vietnam for two consecutive months (January and February, 2008) for the Company’s excellent services.

To date, FPTS has introduced many exclusive services to customers such as EzOpen - online account opening, EzSearch - online information gateway, EzTrade - online securities trading, EzLink - online shareholder management, and EzTransfer - online money transfer. According to a representative from FPTS, there has not been a single error since the system became functional.

The “Best Securities House” award is open to all Stock exchanges in Vietnam and is organized by Vietnam Economic Cooperation and Enterprises Magazines.

FPT Information Systems (FPT IS) has just closed a US$ 1 million deal with Viettel Telecom Corporation to develop a Billing and Customer Care System for the company’s subsidiary in Cambodia.

The contract is FPT IS’ biggest in the international market and has laid important groundwork for the company to enter the regional market. 

Viettel Telecom is one of the biggest Telecommunications companies in Vietnam. In 2008, the company hopes to generate revenue of some US$ 1.87 billion.

To meet the increasing demand for Japanese IT human resources, FPT University (FU) has recently made Japanese the official second foreign language in its curriculum. As a result students will be given sufficient language skills to work in Japanese speaking environments.

FU students can also access scholarships and on-the-job training programs in Japanese Universities and Companies through agreements between FU and these organizations. Presently, FU has signed cooperation agreements with four Japanese universities, namely Kyushu University of Technology, Shinshu University, Aizu University, Wakahoku University.

On March 15th, 2008 in Ho Chi Minh City, around a hundred of Vietnam’s leading IT and Software companies attended a meeting held by the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA). The meeting summarized 2007’s achievements and introduced important events in 2008.

In 2007, Vietnam was selected as Japan’s No.1 choice for software development, as identified in a report from the Japan Information Technology Services Industry Association (JISA). 2007 also saw robust growth in Vietnam’s IT industry. Many software outsourcing firms registered 70-100% growth in revenue. This year, to meet the increasing demand for a pool of IT technicians in Vietnam and to increase human productivity in the software industry, since March, 2008 VINASA has started a Human Software Resource Center.

The Sao Khue Award is an annual program of the Vietnam Software Association (VINASA. The Award aims to honor organizations and individuals who have made the most significant contributions to Vietnam’s Software industry. To date, 69 companies and 126 products have received the Sao Khue award.

This year, the award presentation ceremony will take place on April 27^th, 2008 at Hanoi Opera House on the occasion of VINASA’s 6^th anniversary. Vietnam Television will also broadcast this event live on national VTV1.

The largest IT and electronics fair in Vietnam, the Computer Electronics World Expo will take place from 16^th to 19^th of July this year at Hoang Van Thu International Exhibition Center. The Event is to be co-organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA) and the International Data Group (IDG).  It is estimated that there up to 400 local and international companies will set up booths and 300 000 visitors will attend.

Computer Electronics World Expo is an opportunity for producers, distributors and consumers of IT and electronics products to interact with one another. The latest, as well as some of the best, electronics products will also be displayed here.

million is the estimated revenue that the Software industry of Vietnam generated in 2007.

On March 31^st, 2008 in Hanoi, FPT and the Vietnam Youth Federation signed an Agreement to initiate their Action Plan on “The youth with Information Technology” for the period 2008 – 2012. This aims to make information technology more accessible for youth in the country and promote IT applications.

The Action Plan consists of eight categories to introduce IT to all facets of youth’s life, the Plan also works in tandem with FPT Corporation’s E-citizen program.

‘E-citizens’ are considered to be individuals or organizations who use mobile phones, laptops, ADSL, Wifi, Wimax, etc. and who connect with each other and their work through automated and individualized services through the internet.

With 10,000 visitors, the Sakura festival held in Hanoi on April 6^th was a big success.

Three large cherry blossom trees, each made up of 300 cherry blossom branches from Japan, 300 carp lanterns, and 150 Japanese landscape paintings together created a magnificent scene. In addition, performances by Japanese artists, such as traditional dancing, a tea ceremony and food stirred up the atmosphere and brought a taste of Japan to the audience.

The Sakura Festival is an annual event co-organized by the Japan and Vietnam Cultural associations.
