FPT Asia Pacific celebrates third anniversary |
|
FPT Asia Pacific (FAP) celebrated its third
anniversary on March 12. About 60 participants from partners
including Microsoft, ABB Industry, DHL Express Asia Pacific,
JURONG PORT, Global Foundries Singapore, Trusted Source,
T-Systems Singapore, Unilever Asia Pacific, Parkway Hospital
Singapore, as well as FPT leaders and staff members took
part in the celebrations. On this
occasion, FAP Director Mr. Hoang Viet Anh gave a speech of
thanks to all those people and partners who had made a
meaningful contribution to FAP’s success to date. In
particular, campaign medals were awarded by FAP to two
customers, namely Chartered Semiconductors and Schroders,
and two individuals, namely Lim Wee Kok (Sales Manager, MS
Singapore) and Mr. Uwe Schlagers (CEO, T-systems Singapore),
for their honorable contributions to FAP’s development.
FPT Asia Pacific, headquartered in Singapore,
was established on March 13, 2007, with 100% FPT Software
invested capital. The Company operates in fields including
ERP implementation, migration, application solutions,
application development & maintenance, integration, testing,
etc. |

Big
contracts continuously won |
|
Recently, a number of large contracts have
been signed between FPT Software and its partners. The
latest one is a contract with a global bank in Fortune’s Top
100, worth nearly US$2 million. Furthermore, FPT Software’s
biggest customer in 2009, namely Neopost, has just signed a
contract worth more than US$1 million with the Company.
Equally large contracts with American customers including
Twin City Fan (TCF), CourtTrax, Freescale, and Old Republic
National Title Insurance Company (ORT) have also been won.
The achievements may be the optimistic signals for a
successful year of FPT Software. |

FPT
Software process Day |
|
FPT Software launched many activities which include the
“About QDS” competition, “Use tools, get presents” and
“Productivity IP” programs, to celebrate the Process Day on
March 16. These activities aimed to encourage FPT Software
staff members to learn more about the Company’s quality
management systems, use IP tools to improve project
performance, and create Idea Proposals to raise project
productivity.
The Process Day was launched for the first time in 2007,
aiming to affirm the important of process which strongly
affects the quality of products/services. With that meaning,
the purpose of the day this year promoted the Company’s
goals and actions in applying standard processes to improve
projects’ quality and productivity, raising staff’s
awareness about the importance of continuous improvement.

New project incentive policy |
|
A project incentive policy was officially put into effect in
FPT Software at the beginning of March, part of the
Company's plan to raise quality and productivity. Improving
productivity is one of the key focuses of FPT Software in
2010.
Accordingly, software teams can earn an award of up to 2.5%
of their projects’ revenue if they can increase productivity
by 30% or meet all the goals and requirements that have been
set and committed to from the kick-off days. The award will
be assessed and given at the end of the projects.
Furthermore, an additional 0.5% of the project’s revenue
will be used as the reward fund for the whole team and its
members during project implementation. A productivity
monitoring program which includes: defining productivity
indicators, planning, periodical accessing and rewarding,
will be applied along with project implementation. |

First
segment of Thu Thiem under-river tunnel safely tugged into
position
|
The first segment of the
Thu Thiem under-river tunnel was tugged to its position
safely on March 7 in Ho Chi Minh City. The first segment was
92.4m in length, 33.3m in width, 9.1m in height and 27,000
tons in weight.
As planned, the second
segment will be positioned on April 5-6; the third May 4-5;
and the last June 4-5.
The Thu Thiem Tunnel is
the first under-river tunnel in Vietnam and the biggest one
of its kind in Southeast Asia. It is designed to cross the
Saigon River to link Thu Thiem Peninsula with central Ho Chi
Minh City. The project began in 2004 (feasibility studies
have been ongoing since 1997) with US$189 million capital
investment. It is being built by Japanese contractor
Obayashi.

Ministry vows makeover for financial markets |
The Ministry of Finance
(MOF) is determined to comprehensively restructure the
financial market this year to address its shortcomings and
ensure sustainable development, officials said.
Many changes would be made to financial laws
this year to make them more effective and create close
linkages between industry and the monetary and financial
systems, explaining these are meant to enable enterprises to
raise capital from both overseas and domestic sources. The
expectations are that these steps will improve the liquidity
of the products and services available in the markets. More

Vietnam’s biggest underground petroleum warehouse to be built
|
An underground storage facility for petrol will be built at
The Dung Quat Economic Zone in Quang Ngai province; it was
announced on March 11. This is one of the important projects
to ensure the supply of petroleum and meet the needs of
national socio-economic development, according to board
officials.
Costing around US$340 million to build, it will be the
biggest ever of its kind in Vietnam. It is expected that the
first phase will be finished in the first quarter of 2014,
and the second one in the middle of 2015.

Enterprises soon able to make business registration via Internet |
|
Individuals wishing to establish enterprises will soon be
able to register via the National site with information on
business registration. This is a typical example of the
content of the decree on business registration which has
been drafted by the Ministry of Planning & Investment and is
expected to be signed into law by the Vietnam President in
the near future. The decree is hoped to significantly reduce
administrative procedures.
Accordingly, enterprises can send files of business
registration to authorized offices via the Internet. The
related offices will receive, consider, direct, edit, and
complement the documents via the Internet as well.

International Women’s Day rouses FPT Software |
|
To celebrate International Women’s Day on 8th of March, many
activities were held throughout FPT Software to show
appreciation and love towards the better half of the
Company.
In the Ho Chi Minh City branch, a photo competition named
“FPT Software Beauties” was open to employees from February
23. In Danang, a football tournament for women was held on
March 6 with four teams from separate departments of FPT
Software Danang participating. The champions took the reward
of VND1 million. Meanwhile, in Hanoi, a radiant ball named
“Let’s shine” was held in the luxurious Melia hotel. One
special lady was voted as the most elegant in the ball.
Besides the above, many small surprises awaited all ladies
on the special day when they went to their offices. |

FPT organizes activities for community |
Aiming to raise FPT staff’s spirit of responsibility for
society and in celebration of 20 years of FPT’s Ho Chi Minh
City branch, the Company launched the movement named “FPT –
thousands of hearts”.
Firstly, a walk-in program for humanitarian blood donation
started the movement on March 13. Many FPT staff members
took part in this, donating about 1000 units of blood. Since
2007, blood donation has become one of FPT’s annual
activities.
Additionally, FPT will join in the pedicab competition to
create a charitable fund for children who have hard lives in
Ho Chi Minh City. The program of “FPT – thousands of
gifts”
will also be implemented broadly, in which FPT people will
contribute their strength and money or things to help
children or people who are in difficult situations in
today’s society.
Charitable activities have been launched alongside FPT’s
business transactions for many years. In particular, from
2010, every 3rd of March will be FPT’s dedicated date “For
community”.
