FPT Software’s blog launched

FPT software has recently launched a Vietnamese version of its Corporate blog (www.fptsoftwarecareer.com/blog/index.asp), aimed at sharing information between current staff and potential employees. The blog has a number of sections such as: FPT Software’s practical performance, its staff’s spiritual life and events; technology and processes; working environment; personal emotions; and a discussion about career amongst others.

  FPT Software has been named among Vietnam's 50 Best Employers in 2006, according to a  survey conducted jointly by Navigos Group, the leading head hunter in Vietnam, who operate the largest online career portal www.vietnamworks.com; AC Nielsen, the world’s leading marketing information company, based in US; and Thanh Nien Newspaper, one of the most prestigious and influential newspapers in Vietnam.

  In February 2007, three projects delivered by FPT Software achieved the highest level of customer satisfaction (100 points), as surveyed by FPT’s Qulaity Assurance Department. One project was to develop an application capable of automating design and pricing, another was to develop an automated test tool and test scripts, and the final one was to develop a full life-cycle for an integration card system.

The results were evaluated by customers based on project results, responsiveness, devotion, and the problem solving capability of the project teams.   

  A number of Java related events were held recently in FPT Software. In Mar 2007, a J2EE expert was invited to train our staff on the technology. In addition, we organized an internal seminar on JFree Chart with J2EE architecture.  

  A co-operation in research and education agreement, signed between Kyushu Institute of Technology (Japan) and FPT University on 19 March, 2007, will result in an exchange of lecturers, students and research papers. “By joining forces we aim to train and provide internationally recognized software engineers for the Japanese market”, said Dr. Le Truong Tung, the FPT University Rector.

 

 

 

 VIETNAM CORNER

100% FOREIGN-OWNED BANKS PERMITTED IN VIETNAM 

Foreign banks will be allowed to establish 100% foreign owned branches in Vietnam from 1st April,  in accordance with Vietnam’s WTO entry commitments. The setting up requires a foreign bank in Vietnam to have a parent bank owning more than 50% of its stake, and total assets of at least USD10 billion. 

To date, the State Bank has received eight applications to establish 100% foreign owned banking branches in Vietnam.

“Seven local firms are likely to be listed on the Singapore Exchange late this year or early next year”, according to Nguyen Vu Quang Trung, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Securities Trading Center. FPT and Vinamilk are expected to be among the first to be listed on the overseas bourse.

About 92% of enterprises in Vietnam are Internet connected, according to the Ministry of Trade. Among them, 82.9% of enterprises are searching for information on the net, 64.3% are using email applications, whilst 62.8% are transmitting data over the Internet.

Vietnam recorded a GDP growth rate of 7.7% in Q1 2007, the highest rate when compared with similar periods since 2001, state media said. The key economic sectors attaining the highest growth rates are agro-forestry and fisheries; industry; and construction.

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. (MEI), a Japanese electronics manufacturer, has announced its intention to build a software R&D centre for home digital-electronic appliances in Vietnam. The company will produce software for “Made-in-Vietnam” cellular phones and flat-panel televisions for export.
