FPT Software Health Week
In order to encourage staff to take better care of their health, FPT Software launched a company-wide Health Week campaign from 14th to 24th April 2007. The campaign promoted a variety of healthcare activities such as general medical care consulting seminars on eye diseases, respiration diseases, HIV, stress, Hepatitis B, correct posture at work, to name just a few. In addition, the company organized health maneuvers and contests such as women’s skipping, long jump, and free running.
The Health Week attracted interest and participation from many staff. The week provided staff with valuable knowledge to help them improve their health, and thus increase their work effectiveness. The Health Week is set to become an annual event at the company.

FPT MAINTAINS HIGH GROWTH RATE IN Q1-2007
Our financial statement reported that the company obtained total revenue of US$354 million in Q1 2007, up 33% compared with Q1 2006. In addition, pre-tax profit were recorded at USD12.9 million, almost double the number in Q1 2006, and even after-tax profits reached USD 11.2 million, a triple-fold increase compared to the same period in 2006.
FPT HOALAC CO., LTD. ESTABLISHED TO DEVELOP HOA LAC HI-TECH PARK
FPT announced the establishment of FPT Hoalac Hi-Tech Park Development Company Limited (FPT Hoalac Co., Ltd.) which is considered as the first step towards developing Hoa Lac High-Tech Park. One of the main responsibilities of FPT Hoalac is to invest and develop the hi-tech area. The development of the park is one of the top three prioritized projects, as stated in the Vietnam-Japan Joint Declaration, inked by the two countries’ Prime Ministers in 2006.
FPT PROVIDES MACHINE VISION TECHNOLOGY FOR ROBOCON 2007
For the first time. Vietnam will host the 6th ABU Asia Pacific Robot Contest 2007 (Robocon 2007) in August with participation from students of 19 countries. This annual robot contest, which started in 2002, was launched by Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) which aims to encourage students to create a robot using their creative and technological abilities.
Vietnam’s final round will take place from 25 May to 4 June to choose the 2 winners for the Asia Pacific final round in August, 2007. 374 teams with almost 2,000 students from Vietnam’s universities and colleges, have joined the national robot making competition. FPT Corporation, the Technology Sponsor for the event, provides the Vietnamese teams with Machine Vision technology, which has been applied in creating robots. In addition, FPT hopes to draw Vietnamese students’ attention to embedded systems.

SOFTWARE INDUSTRY TARGETS US$800 MILLION
In mid April 2007, the Vietnamese government approved a development programme for Vietnam’s software industry until 2010 with an investment budget of US$70 million, of which 30% is from the State budget, 30% from local budgets, and 40% from enterprises, associations, and ODA sources.
According to the programme, Vietnam aims to obtain an average growth rate of 35-40% a year, and derive total revenue of over US$800 million, including at least 40% from exports. The workforce for the software sector will be around 55,000-60,000, with average production value of US$15,000/person/year. Furthermore, Vietnam plans to have at least 10 software companies with more than 1,000 employees and 200 companies with over 100 employees.
In 2006, Vietnam’s software industry obtained a 30% growth rate, revenue of US$ 300 million, and export revenues of UD$90 million, mostly from Japan, US and EU markets.
Asia Times, an online magazine has recently published an article stating that Vietnam’s stock market experienced an increase of 145 % last year, and has already risen by another 40% so far this year. The article stated that Vietnam's bourse is the second-best performer in Asia so far this year, after China's benchmark CSI 300 Index, and the stock market’s total capitalization could hit US$24 billion over the next four years.

IDG Ventures in April announced its investment in three more ICT companies in Vietnam including Cyworld Vietnam Company, a social networking site, Vinapay, providing mobile payment services, and Yeu Am Nhac Company, running a music forum on www.yeuamnhac.com. The total number of ICT companies invested in by IDG in Vietnam is presently 14. To date, IDG Ventures has reimbursed US$20 million out of US$100 million committed capital and plans to take stakes in 6 more companies by the end of this year.
FOREIGN REPRESENTATIVE OFFICES ARE E-LICENSED
Hanoi will be the first city in Vietnam to apply a programme to support and license foreign representative offices online, taking effect from 1st June, 2007. Businessmen are now only required to visit the trade department one time. After procedures have been carried out online, it will take from 5 to 7 days to get a licence to set up a representative office, instead of 15 days like before.
