“One-day-fun-fairEevent for FPT Software men

“Men's dayEis one of FPT Software's unique events, which is officially organized on the last Saturday of every July, to honor all the men within the company. This year, it lasted for one week, from July 19th to 26th, and was well-celebrated by the company’s female staff, with lots of balloons, flowers, banners and practical activities dedicated to their male counterparts.

“One-day-fun-fair" is a company-level event, which was organized on July 26th at the HITC Stadium. There were many activities for men, including some funny competitions such as cooking and arranging flowers. The event concluded with plenty of laughs and surprises about the hidden tealents of FPT Software’s men, not only in IT programming, but also in the “household artsE

“FSOFT ASSET INVENTORYECAMPAIGN LAUNCHED

The "Fsoft asset inventory" campaign, launched by FPT Software Quality Assurance Department (QA) on 2 August, aims to improve staff awareness about the company's information security management systems, especially on customer asset management.

The one-month campaign, involving all FPT Software's departments and staff at all levels, will focus on management of four important things:  information, software, physical assets, and services. In addition, the company has also updated and promoted Information Security Management System (ISMS) training documents, as well as strictly monitoring the staff's information security implementation. 

Rating ISMS conformity with customer has now become a mandatory item on the QA’s checklist.

 July 2007: FPT Software has entered into a contract with Vietnam’s biggest Dairy Products Company, Vinamilk, to implement ERP solutions, Palm application systems, and to establish a Call Center for its nearly 200 suppliers nationwide. The two-year-project, equivalent to 700 man-months, requires technologies from Microsoft Dynamics SL 6.5, Palm-based application development and Call Center services, together with related software and processes.

 FPT Corporation sponsored the 48th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), which was held in Vietnam for the first time on July 25th and 26th and attracted around 600 contestants from 100 countries and territories. Vietnam finished in third place with three gold medals and 3 silver medals in the IMO.

1 August, 07: FPT Software announced the establishment of a Corporate Communication and Marketing Department which aims to create synergies between all the company’s information and promotional channels, both internally and externally. Initially, the new department has 11 members. It also includes the “Youth UnionE a division dedicated to the promotion of  FPT Software’s “spiritual lifeE

  100 MIT FELLOWSHIPS FOR FPT STUDENTS

International Data Group’s Chairman Patrick McGovern promised to grant 100 scholarships to FPT students to study at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) during his visit to FPT University on July 14th. The scholarships (20 each year) will be awarded during the next five years, with the aim of providing Vietnamese students with a chance to study at one of the most famous technological schools in the US, and indeed the world.

The chairman also shared with FPT University’s officials and students his vision for IT human resources training and the importance of communication skills, based on his many years of experience working in the IT field.

Patrick Joseph McGovern is a member of MIT’s management board as well as the founder and chairman of IDG, a provider of high-tech products and services for 120 million customers worldwide.  In 2006, he ranked 85th on Forbes Magazine’s list of the 400 richest Americans.

 

 

 

 VIETNAM CORNER

  JAPAN RANKED 1ST IN VIETNAM’S STOCK MARKET INVESTMENT

Vietnam’s Stock market has been developing on the right track, and attracting an increasing number of foreign investors, thanks to its released recently open regulations. To date, they have opened 5,568 transaction accounts (5,353 individual accounts and 215 institutional accounts), of which accounts opened by Japanese investors has made up for 70% of the total. Some 260 foreign investment funds are pumping money into Vietnam’s stocks, valued at around US $5 billion.

Now foreign investors can hold up to 49% of total listed shares. Foreign securities trading institutions are allowed to make capital contributions and buy shares of up to 49% of chartered capital to form joint ventures. Foreign investors can hold up to 30% of local banksEshares.

VIETNAM’S ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACCLAIMED

Economic growth in Vietnam has the prospect of catching up with China and Japan in 2020, due to  the steady flow of foreign investment into the country as well as its on-going reform process, according to Germany’s Deutsche Bank and Frankfurt Times.

Meanwhile, Pricewaterhouse Coopers group stated that Vietnam is regarded as the most attractive investment destination among 20 countries selected by the group.

Chile’s Estrategia online
ran an article praising Vietnam’s great socio-economic achievements during its renewal process. The paper said that Vietnam’s economic development has been admired worldwide, particularly as the country has faced so many hurdles following the war.

The Vietnam E-commerce Association (Vecom) made its debut in Hanoi on July 24th, in a bid to encourage the country's businesses to take advantage of online trading activities, which have been forecast to boom over the next few years. Vietnam has set a target of raising the rate of households that make their purchases through online services to 10% by 2010.

  OVERVIEW OF CREDIT CARD MARKET IN VIETNAM

By the end of June 2007, Vietnam had 20 banks , which had issued 6.2 million payment cards (including international credit cards and debit cards) between them. Vietcombank is leading the market in international credit cards, being the only bank in Vietnam that accepts payments by the five most popular cards: Visa, MasterCard, JCB, American Express and Diners Club.
