  US$2.3 million contract signed with Unilever

FPT Software Enterprise Solution Company Limited (FPTSS for short) signed its biggest ever contract as well as its first official one with Unilever Asia, worth US$2.3 million.

 

According to the contract, FPTSS will implement a project about DMS (Distributor Management System) within 3 years from 2009 to 2011. The company will provide the support service Call Center for Unilever and its nearly 1,000  distributors in 5 countries which are Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Taiwan, and Hong Kong.

 

The achievement will help FPTSS to cooperate with Unilever branches in other countries and approach various opportunities and projects in native and area markets, said FPTSS vice Director Mr. Pham Nguyen Vu.

  FPT ranks in Top 20 enterprises in Vietnam stock market 2009

FPT has successively been ranked in Top 20 enterprises among 293 listed ones in Vietnam stock market in the year 2009 for the third time since 2007. The Awards was held in the conference “Announcement of credit ranking results of listed enterprises and Top 20 ones in Vietnam stock market 2009” on August 26.

 

 

The Awards is organized annually by the Credit Information Center (CIC) of the state Bank of Vietnam in cooperation with the American international information firm Dun & Bradstreet.

 

The results were analyzed basing on financial report, financial indicators, and other ones of industrial scale or structure, etc.

  FSpace starts manufacturing BBM Model

FPT Software Space Lab (FSpace) team has recently defended successfully the results of the second phase in which the specific design of F-1 satellite was built, and was approved to implement the third phase by the sponsors.

 

In this phase, FSpace will import equipments, components and manufacture the experimental model BBM (Bread-Board Model) for F-1 satellite. It will also test some functions of the satellite according to design, and test its reliability in front of bad circumstances which possibly happen. Additionally, the team will continuously accomplish the equipment of the ground station placed on the top floor of FPT Building, and test to generate signals to overseas satellites.

Computers for schools showcased

On September 8, FPT Elead Joint Stock Company combining with ViOlympic project of FPT Visky, and Internet Security Company Bkis officially signed a cooperation agreement of producing a computer line for schools, trademarked ViOlympic. The agreement is in the framework of the program “Computers for schools” of the Ministry of Education & Training. The program is to provide 1 million computers with preferential price.

 

ViOlympic computer line is designed particularly for primary and secondary school pupils, and teachers, and aimed to create the best and safest environment for studying, researching, training Mathematics and other subjects.

 

Visky is a technological team of FPT. Established in 2007, the team implements the biggest project of web 2.0 in Vietnam.

 

FPT Elead is a member company of FPT Corporation, doing business in assembling and delivering computer trademarked Elead; distributing products of information technology, consumer goods, services on mobile phone, etc.

  Vietnam’s IT industry to grow at highest rate in Southeast Asia

The US-based International Data Group (IDG) forecasts that the Vietnamese IT market’s spending will reach nearly US$2.2 billion this year and over $3.5 billion in 2013.  According to IDG, as of 2010, Vietnam will be the IT market with the highest growth rate in Southeast Asia.

Last year Vietnam, the Philippines and Indonesia were the three Southeast Asian countries that had a growth of IT spending of over 10 percent. This year, despite the global economic slowdown, the spending of the Vietnam IT market is still predicted to grow by over one percent. The implementation of big foreign-invested IT projects, the development of the third generation (3G) mobile network and investment in IT infrastructure, particularly in the private sector, will be the motivation for the IT market.

Software firm launches nation’s first 3G mobile applications

The first application for mobile 3G networks in Viet Nam on the iPhone, Android and Microsoft platforms was launched in the end of August 2009 by the Dia Diem Joint Stock Company in co-operation with several partners.

 

The application - called VIET NAM 2.0 - serves as a single portal for users to listen to music, watch video and TV clips, check location information, search for classified advertising, and follow news and sports.

 

The company is currently working with another partner to customise the first handset for the Microsoft and Android platform. It plans to expand the application to the Samsung, Nokia and Blackberry brands by the end of this year.

  Japan pledges record ODA loan for Vietnam

The Japanese government will provide Vietnam with the biggest ever official development assistance (ODA) loan in 2009, exceeding the record US$1.1 billion loan in 2007, the Japanese Ambassador told the Vietnam News Agency on August 26 without giving a final concrete figure.

According to Ambassador Sakaba, the two countries plan to sign a deal on a US$650 million ODA loan next month. In addition to a previous loan worth US$800 million signed in April, by September the total amount of ODA provided by Japan will be much higher than the 2007 record.

Japan’s ODA for Vietnam in 2009 will be primarily focused on the country’s major infrastructure projects such as bridges, roads and building airports, and other fields such as environmental protection and energy saving.

 Vietnam’s biggest thermoelectric factory begun construction

Petro Vietnam Corporation officially started construction of Vung Ang 1 thermoelectric factory on August 27.

Placed in Ky Anh district, Ha Tinh province, the US$1.17 billion factory will have the strongest capacity of machine. Once operation, the factory will generate electricity about 7.2 billion kwh per year on the national grid.

As scheduled, it will be accomplished and generate power the first machine in the third quarter of 2012, the second one in the first quarter of 2013.

  FPT’s 21st anniversary CELEBRATED

Animated atmosphere was flooding FPT when the date of September 13 which is the day FPT celebrates its 21st anniversary was coming close.

As annually, FPT member companies have its particular uniform T-shirt for their staff to wear in the special day. However, many staffs have already worn the uniform to go work in the present days.

A corner of the Olympic festivities

On September 13, the ceremony  includes two main parts which are the Olympic festivities organized in the morning, and the variety festival happened in the evening.

One performance in the festival

The symbol of FPT festival 2009 is “FPT 2088 Egg”, of which “FPT 2088” means one hundred years of FPT’s anniversary. The egg was painted as Easter eggs and is symbolic of the present image of FPT who will be hatched with many achievements in the future.

  Numerous events mark National Day

Across the country a range of diverse activities, such as paying tribute to war martyrs, decorating the streets and holding concerts to mark Vietnam’s August Revolution and National Day (September 2) were held.

On September 2, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hosted a banquet at the National Convention Centre in honour of the diplomatic corps in Hanoi to celebrate the 64th anniversary of Vietnam’s National Day.

September 2, 1945 is a historic day for the Vietnamese nation as President Ho Chi Minh read out Vietnam’s Declaration of Independence in Hanoi’s Ba Dinh Square, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam – the first of its kind in Southeast Asia.
