  FPT strategic conference

FPT strategic conference took place within two days October 31 and November 1 in Hai Phong City.

On the first day, 13 reports of FPT member companies were presented. The last day was for discussion according to topics and discussion reports presentation.

FPT Software Chairman Nguyen Thanh Nam presented the Company's strategy

In the conference, FPT Software Chairman Nguyen Thanh Nam reported the Company’s strategy in the next 3 years 2010 – 2012. FPT Software will choose some fields and customers to focus on, and put target to get big contracts, cooperate to build its own solutions and products, improve revenue per capita, strengthen its position, and widen sales channel worldwide through the strategic relationship with partners.

 FPT embedded workshop to be held in Japan

An embedded workshop for FPT Software customers will be organized in Tokyo on November 18.

 

The workshop will include introductions to FPT’s studies relating to the embedded area in recent times such as Android, utilities or games written on Android, image processing programs to identify vehicles’ number plates, and F-1 satellite design of FPT Software Space Lab.

 

It aims to express FPT’s image of interest and investment in new technological research, enhance communication between FPT’s existing customers and its new ones, and create opportunities to approach clients to further discuss business trends, technology, etc in the near future.

 

  NTT-IT, NTT-Lab and FPT announce R&D project implementation

On November 2, at FPT Software head office, NTT-IT, NTT-Lab (member companies of NTT Telecom Corp.), FPT Software, and FPT University announced the implementation of an R&D project of image processing technology.

The project is financed by NTT-IT and NTT-Lab, and will be implemented by FPT Software and FPT University.

The partners have faith in the success of the project, based on the excellent IT skills of FPT University students as well as the R&D capacity and research management capacity of FPT Software.

Vietnam to chair ASEAN as of January 1

Vietnam will take up position as chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as of January 1st 2010. This was announced at the closing ceremony of the 15th ASEAN Summit and related summits on October 25 in Cha-am & Hua Hin, Thailand.

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung delivered a speech on the ASEAN year, and highlighted Vietnam’s priorities for the next year, including enhancing ASEAN solidarity and links, translating the ASEAN Charter into reality, accelerating the building of the ASEAN Community as well as expanding and deepening cooperative ties between ASEAN and its partners, thus raising ASEAN’s role and position.

  Government gives nod to second stimulus package

A second stimulus package has been approved by the Government in the monthly cabinet meeting, announced by Government Office chairman Nguyen Xuan Phuc on October 30.

 

The Government decided to continue the policy in 2010 to help people and enterprises stabilize production. However, the Government has made some amendments towards cutting down the time and the scale of stimulation.

 

Specifically, medium and long terms projects that need to purchase rural equipment will be supported until the end of 2010, but the interest rate subsidy will be reduced to 2 – 4%.

  Ministry introduces national IT program

The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) submitted the national program on information technology applications for 2020 to the Prime Minister for approval.

The program aims to have 100% of Government agencies and ministries connected and using digital signatures by 2015. By 2015, up to 70% of documents exchanged between Government agencies will be sent via email; 100% of meetings between the Government and/or the Prime Minister with ministries and local government will be held online. Also by 2015, 80% of people and businesses will submit tax declarations online; 90% of local customs offices will apply e-customs; 30% of procurement auctions will be conducted online; 100% of passports for Vietnamese citizens will be approved online; and 30% of Vietnamese citizens over 14 years old will have their ID cards issued, using modern technology.

  Vietnam fulfils UNSC Presidency role

October 31 is the last day of Vietnam’s one-month presidency of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC).

 

Vietnam has made an impression on the international community in the past month and in July 2008 when it also chaired the UNSC. It has built up trustworthy relationships with countries and made practical and effective contributions to the UN and the UNSC in particular.

  FPT Software Parents’ Day comes close

Every year, November 19 is celebrated as FPT Software’s Parents’ Day. The Company chose the day immediately before Vietnam Teachers’ Day (November 20) with the idea that children could express their gratitude to their parents before showing it to their teachers.

Parents were visiting their children's working places at FPT Building on the Parents' Day of 2008

On that day, all parents of FPT Software staff will receive greetings cards personally signed by Chairman Nguyen Thanh Nam.

On this day last year, the Company organized a large meeting for all staff and their parents and allowed them to visit their children’s workspaces in the FPT building.

  3rd Asian Indoor Games opens in Hanoi

The third Asian Indoor Games (AIG) opened in Hanoi on the evening of October 30th. More than 5,000 athletes, coaches and officials from 43 countries and territories are participating in the Games until November 8.

The President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, delivered a speech.

After a performance show, Vietnamese President Nguyen Minh Triet announced the official opening of the Games, with this year’s theme “For a Rising Asia”.

More than 2,500 athletes are competing for 242 sets of medals in 20 sports, together with some performance sports. The games include indoor track and field, dancing, chess, bowling, billiards, computer games, futsal (indoor football), three-person basketball and many others.
