FPT SOFTWARE “NICE COUPLES 2007” CONTEST
"Nice couples 2007" was the name of a photograph contest organized by FPT Software (FSoft) Youth Union. From 1 to 20 July, all FSoft’s members were invited to send in their best photographs, taken either with their colleagues or dream partners within the company, to the organizing committee. 1 first prize, 2 second prizes and 3 third prizes have been awarded to the best entries. 152 romantic, humorous, creative, and artistic photos have been exhibited on the intranet and the company's bulletins.
“Nice couples 2007” was an excellent opportunity for FPT Software employees to prove their talent and passion for photography. The contest also brought people together and enriched FPT Software’s spiritual life, which has been recognized as one of the company’s core corporate cultural values.

INTERNAL JAPANESE PROFICIENCY TEST
FPT Software and the Vietnam - Japan Human Resource Cooperation Center (VJCC) have co-organized the 2nd Internal Japanese Proficiency Test (IJPT) on 11 August. 150 FPT employees sat the test. The IJPT tests vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening skills in 4 levels from 1 kyu - 4 kyu. IJPT is aimed at promoting FPT Software employees’ communication skills with Japanese customers. The test will be organized 3 times by the company next year.
BUSINESS OBJECTS OFFICIALLY DECLARES FPT ITS STRATEGIC PARTNER
Business Objects and FPT Corporation signed an agreement in August on the provision and distribution of Business Objects’ BI solutions in Vietnam.
Business Objects and FPT will cooperate to seek opportunities to promote to this potential market by offering breakthrough and creative solutions to customers in every field. Firms operating in finance, banking and telecommunications, as well as governmental agencies, will be target customers. According to the Agreement, FPT will not only provide licensed software, consulting and deployment services, training and support services for Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, but will also look for opportunities to export consulting and development services to a worldwide market.

FPT Software has just recorded another success with an industrial document printing solution application project for a Japanese customer. The 6-month project received high praise from the customer, with 99 Customer Satisfaction Points. Wide experience and good communication were recognized as the keys to success. The project also attained good evaluations according to the Company’s Quality Assurance Department with an increase in Timeliness at 96.15 % (exceeding the target of 90%); and a decrease in Leakages at 0 WDef/UCP (below the target of 0.2 WDef/UCP ) and Correction Costs at 3.72 % (lower than the target of 5%).
FPT University has recently started a Personal Development Program (PDP). This Program includes fundamental physical education; social relations and responsibilities; culture and art education, and soft employment skills. The PDP will be mandatory for students and conducted through various forms such as conferences, contests, clubs, and social activities.
FPT Software has announced the establishment of a new department, the Resource Assurance Center (RAC), in July. RAC’s function is to balance the supply and demand for human resources of all Operational Groups (OG). Underutilized workers in different OGs will be re-trained with sufficient skills to be deployed on new projects.

IBM PLEDGES TO HELP DEVELOP IT INDUSTRY
IBM has pledged to help Vietnam develop the infrastructure necessary for e-government, including data storage and management skills. Ho Chi Minh City’s local IT industry will also be supported in technical training, software exports and IT services, via IBM’s Vietnam-based Global Delivery Center, which was opened last February.

US TO BECOME ONE OF TOP 5 INVESTORS IN VIETNAM
In the next decade, the US may become one of the five largest investors in Vietnam. US investors consider Vietnam to be an emerging destination for production and distribution investments, primarily export-oriented, said Mr. Matt Daley, Chairman of the ASEAN-US Trade Council.
Since the Vietnam-US Bilateral Trade Agreement took effect, trade ties between the two countries have made great progress. Two-way trade revenue reached US$7.8 billion in 2005, and US$9.7 billion last year.

VIETNAM INFRASTRUCTURE FUND DEBUTS
VinaCapital Investment Management Ltd (VinaCapital) has announced the establishment of Vietnamese Infrastructure (VNI), a US$402 million fund that will invest in the country’s infrastructure sector. VNI will focus on telecommunications, energy, transport, water supply and treatment systems in urban areas such as Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City.
It is estimated that from now until 2020 Vietnam will need US$140 billion to develop its infrastructure to modern standards.
VIETNAM ATTRACTS JAPANESE BUSINESS
According to economists’ forecasts, Vietnam will soon witness a new wave of investment from Japan, particularly in electronics, hi-end technology, cement and transport.
An annual survey by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) shows that more than 75% of Japanese manufacturers operating in Vietnam selected the country as the best production base in the next 5-10 years. Vietnam ranked fourth in the list of potential destinations to which Japanese companies operating in third-party countries plan to shift their operations in the future.
Mr. Ken Arakawa, senior consultant of JETRO in Hanoi said that the business environment of Vietnam has been considerably improved thanks to the country’s efforts to ameliorate the legal system and management mechanisms, in line with WTO regulations, as well as other reforms towards a socialist-oriented market economy.
