product partly developed by FPT Software introduced in Japan |
|
"Magic Connect", a product developed by
engineers of Japan’s NTTIT Company with considerable
contributions from FPT Software engineers, was introduced at
Tokyo’s 3-day Security Solutions Exhibition 2009 at the
beginning of September.
The software product is integrated into a
small USB for the aim of information security, and is
especially useful during times when people are forced to
work at home, e.g. during large epidemic diseases. It helps
users to have distant access and do one-way operations with
their company’s computers.
It is expected that Magic Connect will soon
be launched overseas. |

FPT SOFTWARE UPGRADED WEBSITE LAUNCHED |

On September 15, FPT Software website was
launched. The website was officially completed after a half
year of being upgraded. It is
represented by two languages namely English and Japanese,
and has new interface. Especially, it has a new
characteristic which is the high interaction with viewers,
helps them to discuss, exchange news, and events of the
Company, as well as share their points in blog.
The clip of a flying kite with 3 FPT
colors in the website interface expresses the symbol image
of FPT Software’s first position in software outsourcing in
Vietnam.

FPT becomes official distributor of IBM
Internet Security Systems products in Vietnam |
|
On September 18, a strategic cooperation
contract was signed between FPT Information Technology
Distribution Company and IBM Group, providing products,
services, and solutions of the Company’s Internet Security
Systems (ISS) in Vietnam.
Becoming the official distributor of IBM ISS
products in Vietnam, FPT will bring security solutions to
enterprises to protect total information systems.
IBM Internet Security Systems is part of
IBM's robust portfolio of security solutions, providing
security solutions to protect risks before they affect
transactions of enterprise.
FPT Information Technology Distribution is a
member company of FPT Trading Company Limited (FTG), now
leading the information technology and telecommunications
market in Vietnam. |

ERP Oracle contract worth nearly US$1 million
signed |
|
On September 9, FPT Information Systems (FIS)
signed the ERP Oracle contract valued at about US$1 million
with Nova Group. This is the biggest ERP Oracle contract
which has been implemented for enterprise customers in the
Vietnamese market to date.
The contract includes software copyright and
implementation services. Within 20 months, FIS will
implement the ERP Oracle software including accounting &
finance management, purchase management, production
management, store management, real estate business and
management for Nova Group.
Nova Group has more than 13 member companies,
operating in various business areas such as drug production,
commerce, and real estate. |

 First
enterprise licenced to provide digital signature service
|
The Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) granted
a licence to the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group
(VNPT) on September 15 to make it the first provider of
digital signature service in Vietnam.
With this licence, VNPT is allowed to certify digital
signatures for organisations and individuals to use in
administrative activities.
The public digital signature certification service is hoped
to positively contribute to the Country’s administrative
reform and the development of e-commerce and e-government in
Vietnam.

Largest-ever Techmart debuts in Hanoi |
The biggest ever Fair for Technology and Equipment in
Vietnam, Techmart ASEAN + 3, enjoyed a successful opening at
Giang Vo Exhibition Centre, Hanoi on September 17, and
lasted to September 20.
Politburo member To Huy Rua, chief of the Party’s Propaganda
and Education Committee, Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan, and
Minister of Science and Technology, Hoang Van Phong, all
participated in the opening ceremony.
The Techmart, with the presence of eight ASEAN countries and
Japan, China and South Korea, offers an opportunity to bring
foreign technology into Vietnam and vice versa as well as
boosting further economic and technological cooperation
between ASEAN and other regional countries.
Techmart is an annual event started in 2003 with the aim of
promoting the scientific and technological market in
Vietnam. About 700 enterprises attended Techmart this year.

First Vietnam Company gets NASDAQ listing |
Hanoi-headquartered Cavico Corporation, a major
infrastructure development company founded in 2000,
announced on September 18 that it was permitted to list its
common stocks on the NASDAQ Capital Market, becoming the
first Vietnamese listed company in the U.S.
The stocks were traded under the code CAVO starting the same
day.
NASDAQ is the largest U.S. equities exchange, with about
3,200 member-companies. Nasdaq-listed companies are leaders
across all areas of business including industrials,
technology, retail, communications, financial services,
transportation, media, and biotechnology.

Tourism year 2010 to be kicked off in October |
Hanoi’s authorities are set to launch a ceremony to announce
the National Tourism Year 2010 and commemorate the 999th
anniversary of the Thang Long-Hanoi capital on October 10.
National Tourism Year will be the biggest tourism event
which will be organized for the whole of 2010. It includes
16 events such as the announcement ceremony on October 3,
the 'Hanoians Welcome You to Their Home' and 'Hanoi Green
Tourism Year' events, a street flower festival, a Hanoi tour
guide contest, the 2010 Thang Long-Hanoi International
Tourist Festival, a Hanoi Food Festival, a 'Bat Trang
Pottery: Tradition and Modernity' exhibit, and many more.

|
On September 17, the exhibition of FPT Software artist Bui
Anh Tuan who is a talented staff was inaugurated at the FPT
Building in Hanoi. It is one of a series of activities to
celebrate the 21st anniversary of FPT and the 10th of FPT
Software.

The exhibition, lasting until October 2, is free for every
FPT staff member to come and view works of art, depicting
aspects of FPT’s life through the language of painting.
Contemplating his paintings, which include portraits of FPT
staff and leaders, events, and funny caricatures, the
audience can not only see the flow of FPT development, but
also the life and spirit of FPT people and their creativity. |

Mid-autumn festival |
Mid-autumn festival (the 15th day of the 8th lunar month in
the lunar calendar) is fast approaching. Streets are full of
muti-coloured lanterns, traditional toys, and mooncakes.
The full-moon night, which falls on October 3 this year,
will be celebrated with a lantern parade, lion dances and a
children’s party to serve out festival cakes and fruits.
The mid-autumn festival is a popular harvest festival
celebrated by Vietnamese people, Chinese, and Koreans (even
though they celebrate it differently). In Malaysia,
Singapore, and the Philippines, it is also sometimes
referred to as the lantern festival or mooncake festival.
The Vietnamese version of the holiday recounts the legend of
Cuội, whose wife accidentally urinated on a sacred
banyan tree, taking him with it to the Moon. Every year, on
the mid-autumn festival, children light lanterns and
participate in a procession to show Cuội the way to Earth.
