FPT Software and FPT Corporation report
Q1/2010 business results |
|
FPT Software revenue in the first quarter of 2010 was
approximately US$12 million, exceeding planned projections
by 9%, and showing impressive growth of 30% in comparison
with the same period last year. In particular, profit
increased 46% compared with the plan.
FPT Software’s productivity rose 23% compared with the same
period in 2009.
Most market areas increased spectacularly in comparison with
the same period of 2009: Asia Pacific grew 47%, Europe
(75%), the USA (69%), and Vietnam (90%). Even the Japanese
market surpassed 16% compared with projections. It is
predicted that FPT Software will exceed US$13 million
revenue in the second quarter.
Also in mid April, FPT announced that the Corporation
achieved revenue of VND4.27 trillion (about US$224 million)
in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 8.7% over
the same period last year and 6% compared with projections.
FPT earned a pre-tax profit of VND455 billion (aprox US$23.9
million), 157% of its projections, and a 16.2% increase over
the same period last year.
The performance in the first quarter was attributed to
improvements in software exports, distribution, training,
telecoms and integrated system services.
FPT continues to pursue its "e-Citizens" strategy,
concentrating intensively on core businesses, and appealing
for synergy among member companies to introduce products and
services. |

FPT Software and Neopost honored at 2010 Sao
Khue Awards |
|
FPT Software received the award for Excellent Software
Outsourcing Company while its partner Neopost was honored as
the Gold Partner of Vietnam’s software industry at the 2010
Sao Khue Award Ceremony held at the Hanoi Opera House on
April 21st.
Neopost is number one in Europe and number two worldwide in
mailroom equipment and logistics systems. Starting in 2007,
Neopost has been the 1st customer to account for 8% of FPT’s
total revenue.
The Sao Khue Awards were initiated by the Vietnam Software
Association (VINASA) in 2003 to praise organisations and
individuals who make great contributions to the development
of the IT and software industry in Vietnam. |

Boeing
visits FPT Software |
|
On April 19th, a Boeing delegation led by Mr. Alan Johnson –
Information Technology Manager – visited FPT Software to
work on a preliminary contract between the two companies
involving a pilot project. Since March this year, executives
from both sides have had frequent discussions to work on
possible collaborations.
FPT has also promoted activities in the US market. From 19 –
30th April, FPT paid visits to Boeing and other giant
companies such as Microsoft, Intel Software & Service,
Cisco, and long time customers such as Freescale, Omgeo and
Unify. |

Largest
cable-stayed bridge in Southeast Asia inaugurated
|
The Can Tho Bridge, the longest cable-stayed bridge in
Southeast Asia at 550 metres, was inaugurated on April 24.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung officially cut the
inauguration ribbon.
The bridge, 2.75 km in length, 23.1 m in width, has four
lanes for motorised vehicles and two lanes for non-motorised
vehicles, spans the Hau River, and links Vinh Long and Can
Tho provinces.
It will significantly enhance the transport infrastructure
in the Mekong Delta, thus creating favorable conditions for
road transport in the region, and promoting the regional
provinces’ development.

Vietnam considered as most promising telecom market in ASEAN |
|
The online network Channel NewsAsia (CNA) on April 23 posted
that the leading telecom group of the USA AT&T considered
Vietnam as the most promising market in ASEAN area.
According to AT&T, Vietnam is full of opportunities for
enterprises, and AT&T is promoting their business in Vietnam
by developing the telecom infrastructure.
Starting business operations in Vietnam two years ago, the
revenue of AT&T in the Asia Pacific region increased
significantly by 16% in 2008, and 18% in 2009 compared with
the previous year.

Vietnam’s largest oil containing floating depots handed over
|
|
On April 26, Vinashin Group officially handed over Vietnam’s
largest floating depots containing FSO5 oil with a payload
of up to 150,000 tons.
This is Vietnam’s shipbuilding industry’s biggest ever
product, an investment worth US$170 million. The floating
warehouse is equipped with the maritime industry most modern
equipment. It is designed to operate as a factory which
processes oil directly on the sea.
The launch is a great step in Vietnam’s shipbuilding
industry and an important turning point in the course of
processing crude oil in Vietnam.

PM attends 2010 Shanghai World Exhibition |
|
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung embarked on a long trip to
the 2010 Shanghai World Expo and Jiangsu and Zhejiang
provinces from April 26.
Vietnam has been provided with 1,000 square meters of the
floor area to showcase its products and achievements to
promote the image of its land, people and development
potential.
The six-month long exposition will attract participants from
nearly 200 countries and 50 international organizations.
Since 2004, China has been one of Vietnam’s leading trade
partners. Despite the global economic turmoil, bilateral
trade reached more than US$21 billion last year and nearly
US$5.4 billion in the first quarter of 2010.

Software staff to receive health care |
|
From 16 – 29th April, Health Weeks were organised throughout
FPT Software in Hanoi. At the centre of the initiative was
the need for periodic health examinations for all current
employees. The examinations included overall checking, eyes,
ear, nose, throat checking, gastrological testing, X-rays
cardiopulmonary, blood analysis, urine analysis and other
optional tests. Apart from these, seminars on Health Care
practices were conducted at the offices to educate staff on
immediate health issues.
This is an annual FPT Software activity to help staff
identify any health problems early so that they can be cured
speedily. |

Season of the champions |
|
There has been a recent boom in the number of championships
being held for FPT Software’s staff members.
Firstly, the FRD (FPT Software R&D Company) Open
Championship successfully wrapped up on 21, April 2010 with
the champions being NEURO, a football team whose members
come from the business assistance groups of FPT Software.
A week later, the Women’s Championship was held on 28 April,
2010 at an artificial grass pitch in Hanoi. Each member
company contributed one team and showed their strength on
behalf of FPT Software’s women. In parallel, voting for the
Miss Woman Football Cup contest was also held until 28,
April, 2010.
One final sporting event is the FPT Japan Futsal Cup 2010.
This championship began on 24, April 2010. |
