FPT Software honored as Vietnam’s best
software enterprise |
|
The 2009 Vietnam ICT Awards ceremony were organized at Hanoi
Opera House on March 20.
FPT Software was presented with two Top Software awards,
namely the best software enterprise, and the best software &
export service maker of Vietnam. Other FPT member companies
were also rewarded in the ceremony, including FPT Visky as
the best enterprise for educational and cultural digital
content products & services, FPT Elead as the Top Vietnamese
computer brand, FPT Distribution as the Top IT products
distributor, and FPT Information Systems as Number 1 for
systems integration.
The Vietnam ICT Awards is a national award, organized
annually by the Ministry of Information & Communications. |

Software 2010 annual general shareholders’ meeting organized
successfully
|
|
FPT Software’s annual general shareholders’ meeting was
organized successfully at FPT Building, Hanoi on March 20.
The shareholders discussed, voted and approved items
including the 2009 financial report, the Management Board’s
2009 business report, the Supervisory Board’s Report, 2009
Profit Distribution Plan, preferred stock issuance plans for
employees, common stock issuance plans for employees with
notable contributions in 2009, regulations modifications,
results of voting for the Board of Management and the
Supervisory Board members for the term 2010 – 2015.
Accordingly,
2 foreigners namely Mr. Bryan Pelz and Mr. Paul Smith were
voted members of the new Board of Management. |

FPT
Software to TRAIN about 500 Bridge Software Engineers |
|
FPT Software plans to train and recruit about 500 more
Bridge Software Engineers (BrSE) by 2012 to meet the high
demand of BrSE in the coming years.
For 2010, a training program will be developed and conducted
to induct 100 BrSEs. As well as seeking skillful engineers
in Vietnam, FPT Software is also recruiting Japanese
engineers for the BrSE program.
The program is one of FPT Software’s strategic initiatives
and has received much attention from the Board of Directors
and Vietnam’s IT community. |

Software CEO closes her trip in Japan
|

From March 2nd – 12th, FPT Software CEO Ms. Bui Thi Hong
Lien visited Japan to study Japanese customers' demands and
seek new opportunities. Many famous Japanese companies
appealed to FPT Software to make a stronger commitment
towards enhancing product quality and provide a
comprehensive set of project control procedures. In order to
achieve this, FPT Software would involve senior leaders in
understanding critical project issues and progress to ensure
timely support to PM (Project Manager)/PTL (Project
Technical leader), according to her. Simultaneously,
security should be enhanced. |

|
US$55.8
billion invested in north-south high-speed train
|
The report into Vietnam’s north-south high-speed railway
project construction has been completed by the Vietnam Japan
Consulting Joint Venture (VJC). Accordingly, VJC has
proposed technology for the train.
The North-South two-lane railway project some 1,570
kilometers in length, will have speeds of up to 300
kilometers per hour, and it will take only five and a half
hours to travel from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City.
As planned, some priority sections of the US$55.8 billion
railway, like the Hanoi-Central Nghe An province and HCM
City-Central Khanh Hoa province could open as early as 2020.
The entire route is expected to become operational by 2036.

Huge tourism promotion campaign launched |
Following the initial success of the
'Impressive Vietnam' program in 2009, in early March the
Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism launched a new
campaign named 'Vietnam - Your Destination'.
The program with attractive discounts ranging
from 10-50% offered aims to increase the number of tourists
and strives to receive around 4.2 million international
arrivals and about 27-28 million domestic holidaymakers.
The program is being deployed in some major
cities and tourism centers of Vietnam. Supermarkets,
shopping centers, handicrafts shops, hotels, restaurants,
transport agents and tourism sites are expected to join the
program.

Vietnam to use e-passports in 2011
|
The Ministry of Public Security will kick off the project to
produce and issue e-passports in 2011.
The e-passport will use chipset technology to prevent forged
passports. Personal information will be saved in the
chipset.
Around 45 countries in the world are now using e-passports.

Exports to ASEAN up 60%
|
|
Vietnam’s export turnover to the ASEAN market reached
US$850.6 million in the early months of 2010, up 8.4% from
December 2009 and 60.6% from the same period last year.
Vietnamese exports of oil, rice and coffee strongly
increased in January against the same period last year. Oil
exported turnover reached US$194.8 million, up 83.22%.
Meanwhile, rice export value rose US$149.25 million, up
45.33%.

FPT Software Youth Union officers nationwide gather |
|
During March 19th - 21st, representatives of FPT Software’s
Youth Union officers from three regions (Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh
City, and Danang) gathered in Hanoi to take part in a
training course about skills for spiritual and joyful
activities for the Company’s staff members.
They
had a talk with FPT Software CEO Ms. Bui Thi Hong Lien about
the role of the Youth Union, their goals and action plans
for year 2010.
In addition, a trip
to Sapa was organized, where they exchanged cultural
influences and competed in various events. |

Hung Kings Temple festival to open |
The opening ceremony of the festival to commemorate the
death of the Hung Kings will take place on the evening of
April 14th with a program of singing, dancing and music on
an imposing stage of Vietnamese culture. More than 1,300
professional and amateur artists will perform at the
90-minute ceremony.

Lion dance, an indispensable part of Hung Kings temple
festival
The Hung King Temple Festival has been held annually since
1460 under the reign of King Le Thanh Tong to commemorate 18
Hung Kings who were the founders of the country and started
a golden age in Vietnamese history. Since then, the Hung
King Temple Festival has become a rendezvous of national
unity and spirit, and is a chance for Vietnamese living in
and outside the country to express their gratitude to
ancestors.
The Hung King Temple is located on Nghia Linh Mountain,
Phong Chau district, in Phu Tho province, 100km northwest of
Hanoi. It is a complex of ancient tombs, monuments and
temples.
