Hitachi and FPT Software agree to form Strategic Partnership

FPT Software and Hitachi Group signed a strategic partnership agreement on April 27, 2012 to provide core systems to universities in Vietnam using cloud computing.

 


The two companies will jointly localize Uniprove/AS, Hitachi’s academic affairs information system for universities, into Vietnamese. A trial will be conducted using the SaaS model at FPT University.


Hitachi’s UNIPROVE/AS is widely used in Japan as a solution for comprehensively supporting student information management from entrance examination through to graduation, for faculty administration, and for university management. Under the alliance, Hitachi will provide technical support, while FPT Software will be responsible for service provision and sales activities.

 

Hitachi and FPT Software will also look at extending services to universities in other ASEAN nations from fiscal year 2014 through to the end of March 2015, based on service and sales knowledge built up in Vietnam.

FPT Software joints Software Development Expo & Conference 2012

FPT Software attended the Software Development Expo & Conference (SODEC) 2012 in Tokyo, Japan from 9 – 11 May 2012.


More than 200 Japanese attendees visited FPT Software‘s booth to exchange information. Many of them expressed great interest in FPT Software and its offshore activities in Vietnam.

SODEC 2012 is a Computer Hardware & Software trade show organized by Reed Exhibitions Japan with the participation of some 1206 ICT companies from around the world, including leading Japanese ICT companies.

Neopost & FPT Software celebrate four years of cooperation

On May 9, Neopost and FPT Software celebrated the 4th Anniversary of the Neopost Offshore Research & Development Center (ORDC) under the witness of top leaders from both sides and the entire ORDC staff in West Lake, Hanoi.

 

 

With products and services marketed in 90 countries and subsidiaries in 18 countries, Neopost is ranked number 1 in Europe and second in the world in terms of mailroom solutions to optimize mail flow. It has 5,500 employees across the world, including 1,200 sales representatives and 300 R&D engineers.


FPT Software was chosen after a thorough survey of more than 100 IT companies from around the world. The ORDC was established on February 1st 2008 with a six person group and has been growing 20-30% each year since then.


Said Mr. Jerome Modolo - Director of  Neopost ORDC Hanoi: “In four years of Partnership we have grown together. For NORDC, we have grown from six members in 2007 (the start of our pilot) to 170 people now, respecting our roadmap from the beginning, and we still have room to grow in different areas. Merging our competence and opportunities, we offer each other some services and expertise to grow. That is one of the key successes of our partnership. We take our strengths and try to apply them daily.”

 

FPT Software Danang awarded Outstanding Telecommunications and Information Technology Enterprise 2011

FPT Software Danang was awarded the Outstanding Telecommunications and Information Technology Enterprise 2011 on May 16th, 2012.


The award was presented by Danang’s Department of Information and Communications in the 2011 Summary Conference of the Information and Communication sector held at the Danang Software Park.


Mr. Le Vinh Thanh, Deputy Director FPT Software Danang, was honored to receive the award on behalf of FPT Software Danang from Mr. Phung Tan Viet - Vice Chairman of Danang People's Committee.

FPT University Campus in Hoa Lac high-tech park in operation

On May 5th and 6th, 2012, 579 FPT University students moved to the FPT University in Hoa Lac high-tech Park to study and live there. Each five-storey hostel building has an area of 4,000 m2 and some 139 rooms. Two hostel buildings will accommodate the first batch of 834.

 


FPT University’s construction in Hanoi’s Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park is one of the Park’s key projects. It has completed the first phase (9.1 hectares) with a 4000-seat amphitheater equipped with modern multimedia classrooms, artificial football pitch and a modern skating rink.


Along with FPT University, FPT Software is going to have its own campus in one of the best locations in Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, alongside Tan Xa lake. The new campus, called “FPT Software Park”, is planned to be completed in 2015 with an area of 64,000 m2 accommodating thousands of programmers.

 

It is expected that the first units of FPT Software will move to the new campus by late 2012 and there will be from 8,000 to 13,000 FPT Software employees working there by 2015.
 

Vietnamese students bag APhO medals

Eight Vietnamese students who competed in the 13th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) in New Delhi, India, won medals, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.


The only gold medal went to Le Huy Quang from Lam Son Gifted School, and five silver medals to Dinh Ngoc Hai (Bien Hoa Gifted School), Dinh Viet Thang (Le Hong Phong Gifted School), Ngo Phi Long (Son La Gifted School), Tran Tan Hoang Bao (Le Quy Don Gifted School) and Nguyen Dinh Vinh Thanh (Vinh Phuc Gifted School).


The remaining two bronze medals were given to Bui Xuan Hien (Le Hong Phong Gifted School) and Tran Duc Dung (Gifted School of Science).


The Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) is an annual physics competition for high school students from Asia and Oceania regions. It is one of the International Science Olympiads and is also the only regional competition in physics to date. Some 21 nations attended this year’s APhO.

Vietnam’s second satellite successfully launched into orbit

The VINASAT 2 satellite roared off the launch pad aboard an Ariane 5 rocket at 22.13 GMT on May 15 from Kourou (French Guyana, South America). More than 30 minutes after the launch, it separated from the rocket and went into orbit.

 


This was Vietnam’s second Ariane 5 rocket launch, since 2008, to carry a communications satellite into orbit.


Together with VINASAT 1, which was sent into orbit on April 28, VINASAT 2 will help ensure the safe and stable provision of services, intensify the safety of the national telecommunication network, and expand the provision of telecom, audio-visual and internet services across the country. It aims to support national socio-economic development, natural disaster mitigation, and national defence and security.


Manufactured by US company Lockheed Martin, VINASAT 2 is outfitted with Ku band transmission beams to blanket Southeast Asia and adjacent areas. The satellite weighs approximately 3 tonnes and has a lifespan of 15 years.

Hanoi host hi-tech fair in September

On September 20-23, International Techmart Vietnam 2012 will take place in Hanoi with the participation of 600 domestic and foreign enterprises.


The annual technology fair, the largest of its kind to date, is expected to foster technology transfer between local and international firms and make an effective contribution to the development of the nation’s technology sector.


Several seminars on innovation and clean and renewable energies, as well as technology used in agriculture, are planned on the sidelines of the event.
